how do you remove the freeze plug that is located on the firewall side of engine??

charger_cody

It should come off like all the others. Atleast I think so.

I havent done mine yet because they are on the engine stand but I will.

Im like 73.685% sure that they come off the same way as the others.

it is hard trying to get the plug off - the engine is in the car - not sure if i can use a right angle power drill and place holes into first and try to use a screw driver to pry it off.

charger_cody

I've never tried getting it off with the motor in....

But i wouldnt suggest drilling into it cause you might drill the motor.

If i were you I would just try prying it off with a screwdriver.

Im not sure on how close it is. It's been forever since my motor was in my car.

Possibly some pics might help?  :shruggy:

even if you get it out, you won't be able to get a new one started correctly, they have to be very square in the round hole.......... if that makes sense to you

That is true. Didnt even think about when he puts a new one in.

They have the expandable rubber type with the bolt in the middle for occasions just like his.

I have never done it before, but I like your idea of a right angle drill. You'll probably have to sacrifice a screwdriver and bend it the way you need it. Worst case scenario if it doesn't work is you'll spend a half a day removing and replacing a head, and the expense that goes with it.
If it ain't broke, fix it 'till it is.

Unfortunately, the long way is the short way in this instance. Pull the heads and replace them all. If one is rotted, the rest are halfway there.
