I put my trunk lid back on the arms to reduce the amount of loose parts.  I Bolted if on and the damned thing kisses the filler panel and the left 1/4 and nothing I do will fix it. Not to mention that the lid poped up violently and busted the bolt bracket inside the right arm. HELP!! :'(

What kind of work has been done around the deck lid area? If any sheet metal was replaced was the deck lid installed to check for fit afterwords? Sounds like the 1/4 panels may have been installed too close together.

That's what I was gonna ask.  Has any rear sheetmetal been worked without using the trunk lid as a guide?   :shruggy:

There is a dent on the right 1/4 probably from my ass but that's it.  All I did was strip paint and clean the arms of rust.  The lid was not aligned when I took it off.

OK, Sence there has been no sheet metal work or major damage in that area. Your going to have to find out if the deck lid fits the opening. Theres a few ways to do this. Eather take the torsion springs off the arms and let the hinges down out of the way. Or push the hinges down and put a pipe across the arms and under the deck lid opening. Once the arms are out of the way you can lay the lid down into the opening to see if it even fits into the hole.If it fits with good clearance all the way around you might have a bent arm or something is wrong with where the arms attach. If on the other hand the lid by chance dosent fit the hole. Eather you need to check with a differant lid or youve got some major issues with the body. More then likley its a hinge problem.

It didn't necessary fit "good" though. Quality control back then wasn't perfect. Not to mention that was a tight area on many Chargers due to the complexity of the opening, especially where it meets the sail panels.
