"Painless" wiring

I'm rewiring my whole car, and have almost figured out where all the wires go (Painless mopar wiring)
But there are 4 wires I don't get, which all go to the Instrument panel section:

Black:           Accessory Power (Switched)
Yellow:         Accessory Relay Output
Yellow/Black: Accessory Relay Ground
Black/Yellow: Accessory Relay Activation

What do they mean by "accessory"? just use the on some random thing that needs power? what's "output" and "activation" ?

accessory is indeed something that needs power through a relay not provided for already in the harness...   (think like a electric fuel pump for example)
- it needs 12V to go to the pump (accessory relay output)
- The relay itself needs to be grounded to work (accessory relay ground)
- the Relay needs to be triggered by something to activate it and send power to the pump (accessory relay activation)



Accessory power (switched) is a 12V source that is wired to a switch that will send power directly to something then the switch is turned "on"

at least that is the way it seems to be labeled

So these four wires are just coming from a 4 point relay? I think I get it now.
I'm already using two other relays for the headlights, and I don't have an electric fuel pump.

What other things would be useful to run through a relay?

How did you like the painless wiring harness? I am thinking about ordering one for my 3rd gen Charger.

I bet flux capacitors need a relay, that much wattage most certainly can't utilize the standard wiring.

parkerswede, I really liked the Painless wiring, it's easy to install, all the wires is labeled and has the correct colors.
You get a modern fuse box with small fuses instead of the old glass ones, an accessory relay and horn relay.
The only thing I had to make for myself is the wires for the A/C heater box, and that was easy.
You get at Maxi fuse and installation kit for alternators with higher amps, which I need.

I've done 3 complete systems using Ron Francis. All 3 were Ford/Mercury systems but their wiring harnesses are all pretty much generic and easy to install.
