The thing that pisses me off the most is when someone cuts up a body of a perfectly good car or a car with a little too much rust.

Il be tubbing my perfectly good 68 charger and more than likely cutting the back lights out to stick 70 charger lights in the rear.

Is that what you were refering to?

cuts up a body of a perfectly good or a bad car.

so is it perfectly good or just bad??  can't be perfectly bad, if the body is bad then what would you do with it?? they don't make panels for every section so you have to use parts cars.  99.9999999999% of people won't cut up a body thats just as good or better than their body, wouldn't make sense.

I mean people who misjudge the condition of a car and make it a parts car by cutting it up when it can be fixed.  There are a lot more new parts than there were in 1990. So cars can be more fargone and still be repairable, people who are lazy and cut up a car like that, is what irritates me.

Something to keep in mind is a lot of people do not have the skills to do a lot of the expensive work such as panel replacements, frame rails etc so a car which is fine to one person may appear too far gone to the next. These cars can be purchased restored cheaper than a rebuild most of the time unless you are doing all of the work yourself.

I sold my 68 Charger drag car in the 90's for 600 bucks because at that I time thought it was too far gone and worth nothing (318 column shift). I kick myself in the a$$ for that today. But to be honest if I still had it I would probably have tubs in it and a full tube chassis and it would be a nice clean pro street ride!

Okay, how can I put this, people like to b!tch about folks cutting up a charger for parts and what not, well what do they call it when they cut out the wheel wells to put tubs in for a prostreet car? they are cutting parts out of a good charger for that stuff as while and yet some of these folks like to b!tch at folks for cutting up a charger to begin with. They should look at them selfs first.  :shruggy:

I at times hear folks saying well I won't cut a car like that up, then the next thing out of there mouth is "oh well if I had that car I would tube it out amd make it into a pro-street car"... hey buddy you just said before that, that you wouldn't cut a car like that up but yet you just said you would tube it out.. that call's for cutting things out of the car.  :pity:

I parted this one out maybe 4 years ago and I doubt anyone would have fixed it. Front drivers rail cut out, rear rails rusted past the rear axle arch, rotted roof, pans, everything. Also, the firewall was bent/repaired poorly from an accident on the pass side long ago. The only way I wouldn't have cut it up is if I had a huge yard where it could sit.

Cutting up a Charger shell with profits in mind is usually kind of a crime.  It usually means there was enough there to warrant saving it.

Cutting up a Charger shell after everyone in the surrounding three counties has picked it over, down to cutting stuff off with a sawzall?  That's is usually okay.

If it's shot, cut it to save another, If it can be brought back, Dont cut it. Thsi is of course My Opinion.

Yep, back in the day my aunts son and his wife had two chargers of the 2nd gen, one was I belive a 70 and the other a 69. They was setting for afew months out in the feild in the summer, well my my aunt ask them about the cars as at the time I was looking for one and she knew it. They wanted 500.00 for both. Well soon after my aunt had ask and was helpping me get the cars from them as I was getting a loan, they took and had the cars hauled off to a junkyard and crushed  :flame:, They needed a motor and some work was all. Just after this had happen, I got the money and was still looking for one and my cousin was ouchy about it as him and his wife didn't make much from the cars at the yard so they kinda lost out. The cars had some good parts on them as while. Even back then the cars was getting hard to find and after I heard what happen to the two cars I was  :flame:. I didn't talk to my cousin for at least 3 years

Ya cant save em all. If one needs to go to save another then so be it. Better then 2 cars rotting and getting nowhere.

I'm not sure... What would Hans do here  :popcrn:

I agree with others.. If you can cut up a car that's too far gone to save another, that's great!!!

I caught a lot of grief for parting a 69 RT, but i paid 2500 for it in 2000 I probably made 1500-2000 of that back and kept half the stuff for my other RT. Best thing to do for me financially, cause i would have never restored both cars. The one I parted was pretty rusty from the doors back, the one in my avatar was pretty solid but missing a bunch of stuff.

The way I see it is, they bought it...so they can do as they please. That's what makes this country free.

I think its worse when its a Charger getting cut up. Simply because there are a one body car unlike the road runner vs satelite ...etc...Id rather cut up an old satellite or Coronet for its similar parts than see a Charger get chopped up.

Life isn't Father Knows Best anymore, it's a kick in the face on a saturday night with a steel toed grip kodiak work boot and a trip to the hospital all bloodied and bashed.....for reconstructive surgery. But, what doesn't kill us, makes us stronger, right?

So what would you do then, to a Charger that was too dead/rusted to be a running car again?  Just let it sit?  Or use it to help keep another one on the road?

426HemiCharger

I would build and fabricate and repair my ass off on the Charger  until it was road-worthy. :yesnod:
