Fellas,

Having a 1968 Charger built.  I am wanting to put Boyd Coddington 18x10s in the rear.  I am being told that in order to do this a "mini tub" will need to be done because the maximum width tire that can be installed is around 8".  Can someone clarify or confirm this statement for me?  If you have had 18x10s mounted what was the back spacing or measurements?  I am not looking to have the rear tire stick outside the rear fender well.  Thanks and I look forward to your responses!!!

I have 18x9.5" Centerlines with 295/45/18 Nitto NT555s.  I have 5" backspace and I rub on big bumps (really need to go through rear suspension though. New HD rear springs + shocks would help).  Personally I think 5.25" backspacing is perfect, though some go 5" or 5.5" and have no problems.  5" for me = too close to outer wheel well, but as I measured, 5.5" would rub the springs.  Each car is a little different so you should measure your setup before ordering anything.

Im using 15x10 weld pro star with a 5 1/2" back space, M/T tire 28x12x15 it fits nicely under the wheelwell with no rubbing.
68 Charger, slowly in the works, 451 c.i. approx. 535 hp @ the flywheel, so far best time in the 1/4
11.21 @ 119 mph, full exhaust, stock suspension, 4:10s @ 3640 pounds.

Not sure about what wheel you can fit on that is the widest, but i've had L50-15s on mine for 28 years now, and their tread width is 10.5 inches and don't rub anywhere or stick out of the wheelwells.  I want wider without tubs when i get to upgrading the wheels and tires.  I'll prob go for 17 inch rims though.
