Got my good computer up and running yesterday. But as with all computers I have, there is problems. It running XP Pro with SP 1 & 2 installed. Now my old Norton 2000 version 6 won't work on it?

Does anyone have a old CD they are not using that will work with XP Pro? Or a link where I can get a free down load. If I could afford it I just go buy one, but that is not in the budget as of now.

Had it on line yesterday for maybe 5 mintues. Zone alarm got like 10 hits and that time, and got two spyware's? Got ride of them, thank God.

What is it with XP Pro and a cable, draw's hackers like a mouth to a light.

The free version of AVG is no longer being updated so even though it's free it may not be the best. It's still better than nothing and will catch almost everything. I have been testing Avast (http://www.avast.com/) for the last week or so and it seems ok.

Ok, I may be wrong here. I was told by our network people at work that it was no longer being updated/supported. There don't seem to be any links from the main AVG site to the free version and my software stopped automatically updating itself over a month ago. However, if you go to the correct site - http://free.grisoft.com/doc/1 - you can see that they just released a brand new version in October and new virus definitions 2 days ago. Weird. So any way, if they are still updating it then it's a pretty good product. I have to turn off email protection though since it bogs down all of my machines.

Ken, i use the nod32 by eset. Its highly recommended by people in the windows tech site forum. I download the free 30 day trial and when it expires i  uninstall and reinstall again and it works. Here is the link if your interested.
