Got betty (the 73) out in the driveway.
Got her taped.
Mixed the paint.
Thined the surface.
Started primering.
Paint gun clogs up.

paint guns are one of those things that need to be kept meticulously clean. the only thing almost as clean as my paint gun are my actual guns

The difference between keeping your spray gun and guns clean is
If you dont keep your spray gun clean it will give you a hole in your wallet, If you dont keep your gun clean, it will give you a hole in your head.  :eek2:

Did you wait too long to spray after mixing?   The primer has a pot life once it is mixed.

Did you mix it to the correct ratio?

Did you clean the gun and were you able to spray some thinner through it?

74-StreetMachine

Did you pour the mixed primer through a strainer ?
Watch me turn beer into pee for $5.

true, but i can clean both blindfolded I've done it so much.  ok hijack over.

im curious if your gun was dirty, or your settings were off, or you didnt strain the primer or mix it right.  most of which has happened to most body guys at least once, we all have our off days.

charger_cody

Ok you want to know what went wrong.
I bought a cheap air drier thate cut down the flow too much, therefor it stays in the gun longer.
I've painted very many times.
I know the ratios and use a strainer blah blah blah.

Im just an idiot for trying to cut the block by using a cheap air drier.

Of course today is the day I'm spraying my deck lid, and I had to start off with this thread?  I've never even used an air drier.  I just mix and shoot.  Never said I was a pro.
This car was sold many years ago to somebody in Wisconsin. I now am retired and living in Florida.

Ok well heres a fair warning, if your going to get an air drier, which i strongly recomend, get one that is a good size.

Dont get the one that is the size of a roll of quarters.
