Charger666

Fellow Charger lovers,

Just wanted to give a little introduction.  My name's John, and I'm obviously new to the forum.  Like all of you here, I have a perhaps unhealthy obsession (yeah right, if there is such a thing  :icon_smile_cool:) with Chargers, and of course the infamous General Lee.

About me:

I'm 20 years old (I know, a youngin'  :icon_smile_big: ;) ), and currently reside in the city of Hamilton, Ontario, Canada.
My unhealthy obsession started when I watched the Dukes of Hazzard for the first time when I was about 6 or 7 years old.  Ever since that very moment, I've been completely hooked on Chargers.  Before I graduated from College, I would spend all of my funds from my part-time job on trying to purchase the infamous '69 Charger that I so lusted after.
And one day, I did it.
Unfortunately for me, this is more of a horror story.

I bought an orange Charger (go figure ;)) from a guy I knew, and it was in fairly good condition.  Of course, wanting it to be perfect, I sent it to a shop recommended by this guy, who had also given my cousin a referral as well.  Everything seemed fine.  Then one day, the guy stopped returning the calls.  Went to the shop, and the mechanic, my car, AND my cousin's '65 Mustang had all vanished into thin air.  To this day, the shop has been left abandoned.
Hard to believe, I know, but true story nonetheless.

I miss it :(.
And ever since I've gotten into my career, I've been trying to save up again for a Charger ever since... one that, like before, is in good condition, but one that's not going to get snatched from me :P

Maybe the guy is in cahoots with HLPAG!   :smilielol:   :smilielol:

--

Anywho, I look forward to contributing to the forums and talking with all of you :)

Hope everyone is well.

-John

Welcome to the site John! Sorry to hear of your bad luck. :rotz: Any chance you have any of the Charger's paperwork left? If you have the vin number, there's a chance you could find it.

Wouldn't some kind of insurance cover that? :-\ :-\ If you knew the shop owner, couldn't you file a lawsuit or something? :scratchchin:
Anyways, good to see more interest in the classic Charger. Welcome aboard. :2thumbs:

Charger666

Hey guys, thanks for the reply.

WingCharger: It is true, insurance could cover that, but the only thing I had was the ownership... The car wasn't insured yet when this happen.  Unless I'm missing something?

69bronze: I believe my cousin tried tracking down both cars, and has not come up with anything yet.  Mind you, we've been looking for nearly 4 years now.  Not sure if this dude had the VIN numbers re-stamped or forged or something like that.  Because there's been absolutely no luck :(

I take you filed a police report?

Life isn't Father Knows Best anymore, it's a kick in the face on a saturday night with a steel toed grip kodiak work boot and a trip to the hospital all bloodied and bashed.....for reconstructive surgery. But, what doesn't kill us, makes us stronger, right?

Yes sirree.
The cops came up with nothing :(  Mind you, the police force here is a little imcompetent, unfortunately for me.  :flame:
This guy literally just jumped ship and vanished.  I talked to the guy who referred me to him, and said he knew nothing of where he could have gone or anything like that.  Needless to say, I don't even talk to him anymore.  What a crappy referral  :icon_smile_dissapprove:

And I'll try and post any and all the numbers i have for the Charger ASAP.  My cousin has been doing all of the tracking-down, so he's got the papers for everything.  I'll try and get ahold of him and grab what I can as soon as I can.  And I'll grab the numbers for the '65 Mustang as well, and maybe you guys can help me out with that too  ;D

THanks to all for your replies!

Charger666

LOL Mike, yes sir.

My program was only 2 years long :P

Sorry to hear your orange Charger was stolen. At least yours was a '69 (That was for Chuck....  :nana:).

You'll find a good car...this time try a '68! And welcome to the site!

That is really really sad.  I'm sorry to hear that.  Welcome to the site and get any numbers of pictures that you can and share them with us.
This car was sold many years ago to somebody in Wisconsin. I now am retired and living in Florida.

Thank you sir :)

This might sound a little weird but for whatever reason, the '68 tail-lights bug me.  Maybe I'm just so used to lookin' at the '69 ones. LOL, I know, weird. :P

But I suppose it could be changed even if I did buy a '68.

Oh well :)

Most definitely will, once I can get ahold of my cousin and either grab the papers or get him to tell me everything over the phone or something. :)

Then don't buy a '68! If the lights don't do it for you get a '69 or '70...they are a lot easier to find.... :icon_smile_wink:

Haha, very true.
I have nothing against '68s, they're sexy as hell.
I just could never put my finger on it exactly, I just like the long horizontal lights.  :)
But that's not to say if I ever came across a '68 for a fairly good deal... I'd take it in a second!

Scum like those kinda people don't deserve to walk this Earth. :rotz: :rotz:

Anyway, any pics of the car, or numbers?  :scratchchin: You should try to get that info out to as many people as possible, and the internet is a great way to do that. :yesnod: :yesnod: Post it anywhere you can. Also, look for sites specifically for finding stolen cars. They are out there. :2thumbs:

Haha, well I'm definitely doing my best along with my cousin to track down our two babies.
It sucks, but maybe there's an even better Charger out there for me, you never know... Everything happens for a reason.
But even still, it was my first car and I miss the damn thing.

Wish me luck!

Tilar

You do have the guys name right? Any idea where he is? 15 minutes of someone talking to him by hand should give him incentive enough to tell where the cars are.

Hate to be the voice of pessimism, but I'd bet both cars were stripped down and parted out.
Never underestimate the power of stupid people in large groups.  Especially if they have access to the internet.

And I'm praying to the gods that this hasn't happened.  But it's more than a possibility.
