why? vfn fiberglass makes fiberglass bulge hoods already. maybe they can modify their existing design for you?

If you think someone is going to build you a 1 off custom hood for less $ than the VFN you are probably in for a big surprise.
68 Charger R/t white with black v/t and red tailstripe. 440 4 speed ,black interior
68 383 auto with a/c and power windows. Now 440 4 speed jj1 gold black interior .
My Charger is a hybrid car, it burns gas and rubber............

shipping will more than likely cost you around 150-175, plus the 400 for the hood. a one off will more than likely be way way more than that. but good luck finding someone anyways.

You do know that you have to have a bulge hood to make a mold to make a fiberglass bulge hood? Additionally, you have to have enough fiberglass and resin to make both the mold and the hood. The fiberglass, resin and labor would probably exceed the $600 pretty darn quick.
And, if you expect the hood to be a bolt on, you'll have to make the steel inserts for the hinge mounts and the hood latch insert. It's about a three day job to make the first hood. Then hope that it fits correctly.

Hey Richard,I just sent a hood not too long ago through the UPS store from Cleveland Oh. to Minnesota,$188. Is the seller claiming $300 to ship? They dont even have to be crated up. I re-used a box that a van 1/4 panel came in,cut it to size, and I wrapped the hood in the blue foam sheeting that the van panel came in. The buyer recieved it unharmed within a week. The cardboard was real thick ,it worked good. I got it from a collision shop that was throwing it out.

I would go with VFN hood also, they are of great fit and quality, similar to how the hoods are made for the newer (past 10-15years)Mustangs with the glass hoods. If I cant find a good deal on one by summer, I know I'm getting one.
Next time....

seriously? I'm getting ready to do my own one off custom fiberglass hood for my 92 dodge diesel, and seriously I'm going to be into it for at least a few hundred bucks for materials alone. Let alone molding my hood and custom fabing the hood for what it will be used for.

richard pettys 73

SO DO YOU THINK FOR AROUND $400 IT IS WORTH FIXING????

easily. I've got a gt hood for my 68 that is bent about the same that I'll fix myself. Heck if it's that bad cut the corner off a good flat hood and weld it to the bulge hood

richard pettys 73

WELL THEN CODY   I MIGHT HAVE JUST STUMBLED ONTO A DECENT BULGE HOOD FOR YOU.... :2thumbs:  I WILL LET YOU KNOW AS SOON AS I TALK TO THE MAN ABOUT SHIPPING IT

trust me Cody that ones way cheaper in the end then if you were to try and get one made. even locally to avoid shipping it'll be expensive for sure. the custom mold(their is a ton and I mean a ton that goes into a proper mold) I'm not sure if the frames are the same but you could always find a decently rust free hood and steel metal from it to fix it.
