Just a question for those of you who've had your dash frame powder coated. What did they do to protect the VIN plate? Or did you remove it and replace it? Or did you just have the plate powder coated too?

I've seen a lot of people remove the vin tag and restore them while the dash frame is getting powder coated. Then they put them back on....

I wouldn't risk it myself, I'd pull it off and invest in a pair of the special rivets and put it back on after.

Ah yes, leave it to Shakey. Our resident perfectionist. :2thumbs: Unfortunately it seems you can no longer get the VIN decals thanks to the ^&%R^#E!+* at Chrysler.

I got my decal and the rivets a month or two ago from ECS.  They may still be selling them, kinda spendy though.  I think it was $49 for the decal and rivets.

Are you talking about this place? http://www.ecsautomotive.com/

Hemidog

yep, got my vin decal just a couple months ago from them.

I had to remove mine as the dash was rusty under the VIN tag.   I drilled out the rivets, took a Scotch Brite pad to the tag, sprayed some gloss black on it, got the Chrysler decal from ECS and the rivets from Mega Parts and after the suede paint was dry put it back on.  No dramatics just about 15 minutes of work and a factory fresh look.  Total cost was around $60.00 for the rivets and decal.

Hemidog

they don't sell them on the site, you have to e-mail them and ask for it...

Rolling_Thunder

I had my vin covered with tape when it was powdercoated...   Looks just like it did before....   not bad at all   IMO

Yea, I got the rivets and the transfer from ECS last week. I didn't even look for it on their site, I just emailed them and asked about it. They were only $49 and $6 shipping. :o

charger2fast4u

hey bull what all information did you have to give them in order for them to make you a new stick on and rivets. i find it nice they have the rivets also instead of having to look around somewhere else for them.

I just ordered a set. $55 to your door priority mail for qty 2 correct NOS rosetta rivets and the "Chrysler Corp" dry transfer. Email them with your request.

I used a matte finish and you'll find pics in my VIN tag restoration thread that I think is linked on the first page of this thread.

The only info they asked for was how they were getting paid. ;D
