I remember ripping it around a corner. I get pulled over and he says "I know you have a fast car, but why did you do that?" best answer i could come up with is "Im young and stupid"

i never have, but oddly enough my brother, who rarely drives my chargers, took my white 69 out and got pulled over for illegal tint. and he was given a ticket lol. thankfully the cop didn't make him peel it, that would have cost my brother more.   :smilielol:

Only to check out my car.  I've been asked if it can burn rubber, does it have the horn and what engine do I have.  No tickets.  But, I don't do anything to get tickets either.  I have spun the tires for two cops though.  :icon_smile_big:

all the time. I guess the car being red and me being a young, hispanic male in southern Louisiana, just doesn't help!! not that I drive like an asshole or anything, because of what I've said before are some reasons I try to be the best driver possible! don't race the car, spin tires, etc. but it still happens.

only been given a ticket once and it was a very silly ticket but I didn't fight it, the cop obviously had a bad night and was looking for ANYTHING, any sign so he could go loose on me. I just kept my cool like always, quietly smooth and that seemed to piss him off more but because there wasn't anything he could do and it was obvious his lame attempts to get a rise out of me weren't working, he just gave off but not before he could make some lame comment about "getting 5 feet to the gallon in that metal piece of junk".  :eyes:

on the other hand, I was once stopped by a cop so he could check out the car!!!! that I didn't mind at all, the dude said he almost bought one after katrina, a white one a guy was selling because he was moving out of state and it came down to his wife not wanting him to have it...that sucks!!! I'm glad my babymama loves the car, even without a/c and modern comforts. He was full of props.

I've been stopped around 9 times? or so since I've had it, 2 years now.

Basically the same answer for me except that I've had my licence a little bit longer and the last ten years have been a 1st gen Charger.  I suppose I could also add that yearly number goes down the older I get.  I'm either luckier or smarter about where I choose to be stupid (I refuse to say mature).

mopar_nut_440_6

Many, many times, but have been driving 2nd gen Chargers since 1983. Things used to be a lot more lenient a long time ago. Now you get in so much more trouble. I remember getting 21 points in 3 weeks. I will see what happens once I have mine restored and on the road! I am hoping I am smarter these days but am still a kid at heart!!  :shruggy:

Memorial Day weekend, about five years ago, State trooper. Ticket for 49 in a 35, there was no speed limit sign going in my direction, figured the S/L was 40 since it was a rural location. Called my buddy who's a cop to see if he could help me out or get the ticket "placed on file". He called back a few days later, said I was pulled over by the biggest jack ass to ever put on a uniform. This trooper apparently loves to ticket muscle cars and hot rods.

I have a 69 rt/se and have been pulled over 3 times in the last 2 years. The attitude from the police is " oh, I thought you were a kid."  After that, they want to know about the car, and tell me to take it easy.  One CHP remarked  "aren't you a little old to be driving like that?"  My reply, not yet.  I'm 49

I got pulled over 11 times in my '70 before I got my first ticket. After that I stopped counting.

Got pulled over one day for having the electric cut outs open on public streets. He said it was too loud for the street so I shut them. He loved the general and wanted to look at it..(no ticket) Then I took a cop for a ride and we went by the station and did a burn out in the parking lot (he told me too) but no one came out?

Many years ago I got pulled over in my 68 in Woonsocket, RI.  This other guy in a 70 Charger also in black primer had earlier in the evening run from the police and got away.  When they saw another black primer Charger in the area, they pulled me over and gave me a complete grilling.  Fortunately for me I had gone there straight from work.  I'm not sure if they believed me at the time, but they let me go with the parting comment to "Get the loud exhaust fixed".

No Ticket.

Man, don't even get me started.

I was absolutely persecuted when I used to street drive my GL replica (mid 1990s).  I'd be lucky to go a month without being at least pulled over.  If I wasn't doing anything wrong at the time then they'd literally just make something up.

472 R/T SE

I had a red '70 Camaro with a 400 small block for about a year.  I think every weekend I went out I got pulled over.  One night I boiled the tires from the stop sign and seen a cop so slammed on the brakes.  I hit the brakes so hard that while he was talking to me when he pulled me over, he seen a bottle of Wild Turkey that had slid out from under the seat under my buddy's legs.  Illegal possession of alcohol (minor), lost my license for 90 days.
Before that I had three "unnecessary wheel spinning" tickets in about two months time.

Around '84 I sold that Camaro and bought my first Mope.  My buddies compared me to a alcoholic gone sober as I babied that Mope everywhere with the occasional romp.  The R/T had bias ply tires that were about out of tread and I wanted to preserve them.

Anyhow, I went OTR for about 6 years averaging 150k miles a year.  Then heavy haul up here in the NW.
NO moving violations since '84 or so and never pulled over in a Mopar.

I like to think it's required I have some GOOD luck on occasion.

Growing up in the late 80's in santa clara ,california cruising el camino on the weekends, just about evey weekend, the cops had nothing else better to do than pull you over and give you a ticket just to annoy you. I got a ticket onec for having something hanging from my rear view mirror. I could have easily remove and move on, but NO i got a fix it ticket, believe that? i could tell you guys stories for hours about tickets!

Twice, in one trip to the Nats back when it was in Indy. Not for speeding or burnouts. Worse than that. The first one was because I had my turn signal on for more than 2 blocks. I wasn't aware that was a felony in Indianapolis. The second one was because I wasn't already at my hotel room. Seems that if you stop ANYWHERE between the track and your hotel room, you are loitering.  They couldn't find anything wrong on my car so I just got warnings. Can you guess where I'll never go again if they move the Nats?

last week i took out mine on a cold crisp night after ive been working on it... so went around town roads were empty four lane road, nobody in either direction...and then i let it rip....................it was the fastest yet it felt.... i went through 3 gears and let off..... a mile down the road.... i get the "whoop whoop" from a cop behind me... so i pull over had over my info...and he says " do you know how fast you were going????? i had you doing atleast 80" i said "80?" but i meant that i was insulted because i knew i was well over 100....... after some helpful connections i had he let me go..... and i went back home...... but damn.80? i was saying to myself man... i know i was well over 100 and half of that was sideways.........atleast i can laugh about it.......

General_01

I can't remember how many times I have been pulled over. I know I never got a ticket in the General thought. :2thumbs:

I remember a ticket I got in the Bee about '94-'95. It was the first time I drove it to work in the Spring of that year. I drove my '85 El Camino down this road at about 45 mph in a 40 all the time. This morning I did the same exact thing in my Bee and guess what? Got a ticket. :brickwall:

Another time in the Bee a cop pulled me over for Reckless. I was on a 4 lane that narrowed to a 2 lane past a farm and then opened back up to 4 lanes again. I took off next to a van. I was  in the outside lane and stepped on the gas to get ahead of the van. I got to the next stop sign. As I left the stop sign I notice out of the corner of my eye a car next to me that just kept going through the sign. I look over and it was a cop pointing to the side of the road to pull over. He walked the whole car looking for anything to write up. He gave me a ticket for reckless for cutting the van off when I switched lanes and a ticket for speeding.

I went to court and talked to the prosecutor before my case and told him my story. I told him I may have sped a little to get by the van, but I did not cut the van off. I told him I would not jepordize my car, which was worth 3 times what that van was. He took the reckless off and I paid my speeding ticket.

So that makes two I can remember in the Bee. :icon_smile_big:

BROCK

I got in the habit of seeing just how quickly I could get to a 100 on this certain service
road in D/FW.  On this last occasion I happened to look in my rearview mirror & thought
I saw a cop way back in the distance.  Sure enough, it was.  So I pulled off onto a side
street, got my walet out & sat on the trunklid.  When he arrived he threw open the door
& just about tripped over it trying to get to me.  He was a very large man.  Very comical.
I still laugh to this day at the memory of him trying to get around that door & put his
nightstick in his belt at the same time.  Yep, I got a ticket.  He wrote 75 in a 45.  Whew.
It pays to be nice & honest.

I also got a ticket for do 95 while coming out of a clover.  At that point, I didn't speed
on the straitaways anymore.  I didn't have the heart to tell him I was slowing down!!!

I was pulled over once by a deputy who told me my brake light was out. The weirdest incident was one night on the interstate when some lunatic came flying up out of nowhere and attached himself to my rear bumper. He was so close, I couldn't even see his headlights in my mirror. When I signaled for my exit, he swung around me and roared off. That's when I realized it was a Maryland State Police car. I guess he was trying to goad me into racing him so he could write a ticket. Idiot.

Unfortunately there is a law where I am from that prevents that.  It states that you cant slam on your brakes "Brake Check" unless there is a legitimate reason.  So that would kinda negate your law suit.  Best bet is let it alone, if you arent doing anything wrong, he probably wont stop you.  Now I said probably, there are a@#hole cops out there that might.

"LMFAO was it dark?"

I was coming off a night shift. About once every six weeks or so, I'd drive the Charger the 50 miles each way to work and back for the 2 to 10 shift on the weekends. Kept the fluids moving, the battery charged, and the tires round. I hadn't figured on a dumbass with a badge. At least nothing happened. I got off and dropped off my co-worker at his house and never saw the guy again that night. I'm just glad the State Police don't have ticket quotas. The "suggested minimums" are a bitch though.

I 100 PERCENT AGREE......"WHAT DO YOU MEAN OFFICER.....YOU WERE SO CLOSE YOU DIDNT SEE THE DEER RUN ACROSS THE ROAD???? SUCKS TO BE YOU"  :smilielol:  :smilielol:  :smilielol:

QuoteThe weirdest incident was one night on the interstate when some lunatic came flying up out of nowhere and attached himself to my rear bumper. He was so close, I couldn't even see his headlights in my mirror. When I signaled for my exit, he swung around me and roared off. That's when I realized it was a Maryland State Police car. I guess he was trying to goad me into racing him so he could write a ticket. Idiot.

Slam on the brakes, get rear-ended, hire a good lawyer, and then sue his ass into the dirt for whiplash.

I know, I know but you all missed it in my post, a legitimate reason.  And before you all go nuts on me, a phantom animal is not a legitimate reason.  Trust me the courts and insurance people have already heard that one.

IT JUST DOESNT MAKE SENSE THAT THEY DO TAILGATE.......FOR EXAMPLE ME AN MIFE WERE DRIVING TO FLORENCE,I WAS DRIVING AND AN UNMARKED CAR PULLED RIGHT UP ON MY BUMPER. I WAS IN THE FAST LANE GOING 60 MPH....SPEED LIMIT 55 ( I KNOW STILL SPEEDING) TO GET AROUND SOME SLOWER MOVING TRAFFIC. WHEN I GOT A BREAK BETWEEN CARS I HAD PUT MY TURN SIGNAL ON TO GET INTO THE SLOWER LANE...JUST AS I START TO MERGE THIS LADY WHIPS AROUND ME ALMOST PUSHING ME OFF THE ROAD. I POLITELY GAVE HER THE FINGER AND THEN SHE TRIES TO FLASH A BADGE.....NOW IF I HAD TO SLOW DOWN FOR ANY REASON....POTHOLE TRASH ON THE ROAD ..WHATEVER AND SHE HIT ME...YOU DONT THINK I WOULD HAVE GOT A LAWYER AND SUED HER AND THE COUNTY....YOU BETCHA...NOT ONLY WAS SHE ENDANGERING HER LIFE BUT ALSO THE LIVES OF THE OTHER MOTORISTS ON THE ROAD. I THINK SHE NEEDED TO BE  :slap: :slap: :slap: A COUPLE TIMES....AND I HOPE THIS IS NOT WHAT THEY TRAIN YOU TO DO IN THE POLICE  :RantExplode: :RantExplode:

I don't mind the one or two sentences as that seems easier to decipher.

Unfortunately I just got a prescription set of eye glasses...yeah I know, getting old.  :slap:

As with 99.9 % of my posts, no malice intended.

Me and my brother got pulled over in my '67 Coronet 500 a few weeks ago. We were driving around our area without a plate. He ran the vin and our licenses, everything came back clean so he let us off with a warning.

I just don't condone tailgaters.  I'll drop it a gear in your face in a heartbeat - don't care who you are.
To that end, I do get out of the way of faster traffic.  I pay attention & I see ya coming.

Ditto on all counts for me. The auto-shtick in my old Intrepid was great for that. A little nudge to the left..
