can't really believe that these cars came with out them standard equiptment  :shruggy: ,  cost cutting , & getting the dosh back in options , maybe  :scratchchin:
how the hell do you see backing up tight to the passanger side , with out one  :shruggy:  , yeah you can judge sort of  but  :shruggy: :Twocents:

It was just the era, a lot of things were optional then like radios, heaters and things we take for granted today.  Hell, it was only a couple of years prior that seat belts were an option.  Standard padded dashes were even somewhat new by the late 60's.

yes thats true (Ghoste)  :yesnod: , just like a tac optional , even if you ordered a HEMI & a four speed  :o

I got a passenger mirror and

A: You can see fine out of it
B: You can see the cars comming up behind you in it (just like in a modern car)
C: It makes the car look even cause you dont have 1 side naked which looks odd

I suggest you get 1.

Did you have to install one to get the car registered being lhd in your state?

Being a 68 charger (me living in australia) I did not have to get the pass mirror because the car is old enough and came without it. I chose to add it because it looks better, evens the car out, 1 side mirror 1 side no mirror looks odd but it also has helped and makes things safer as you can use it no problem.

I optioned for 2 mirrors from beaparts.com without remotes. I like everything manual.

I,m in Perth, so no passenger mirror means no rego, have to have one here on LHD cars

Not in 66-67. :D  Tach was standard even with the 318 in a Charger.  :nana:

Do they go in the same spot on the passenger door ?

No...they don't...it's in a different location so the driver can see the mirror....

IIRC thats a 66-67 thing, beginning with the 68's I think they mounted them in the same spot on both doors.

suntech

Have just driver side mirror on my 68, but after rebuild i will put on both sides, both for looks and functionality.
Since we only live once, and all this is not just a dressed rehearsal, but the real thing............ Well, enjoy it!!!!

chargerrt

I have one on mine...can't see a dang thing out of it though  :brickwall:

Polygon

I did this to my 73 challenger my 3 cents worth.

I put an 'objects are closer than the appear' mirror on the pass door mirror. I cut it to fit. (I worked in a glass shop).

So it wasn't factory origina; anymore ,but I could see better.

my 72 does not, i don't think my 73 does but i will find out this weekend, 73 roadrunner does, i am putting one on my 77 aspen, and the 79 Cordoba does not

resq302

Don't think mine came with a pass. side mirror from the factory but wanted one since my garage is tight and when we load it into the trailer, it helps getting the car out.

We put one on our chally also for the same reason.

I have both. I think the car looks more balanced with both.  :Twocents:

paironines

My R/T doesn't have one but my 69 383 2bbl came from the factory with one. I believe the 69 options report state that about 904 Chargers had them in 69.

71charger_fan

I've got a pair off of a Cordoba on my car. The Cordoba passenger mirror has a long cable. I drilled a hole in the dash near the ash tray and can adjust the passenger mirror from the driver's seat. Paid $5 for the pair off a car that was in line for the crusher. The yard was happy to squeeze an extra few dollars out of a car they'd given up on. Painted them body color (oh the horrors) and I'm happy with them and the way they look.

G-man

I positioned the passenger side mirror in the same location as the driver side. Can see perfectly fine out of it. Cant understand the ppl that say "I cant see anything out of it" cause I can... ?

So if you wanted to do this and there was only a drivers side mirror and no pass. hole. What would you have to do? I mean besides drilling. Is there a manual type or thing?
Done some growing up. Not going to do much on this account tho. Doesnt fit the more mature me.

jobbless

i will hopefully be able to afford a decent one for my car. i get weird about some things, where everything has to be symmetrical. and i know i can fix that. i have been saving passenger mirrors whenever i find them. i think i am up to 4 of the manual remote style. but i think i will have to find a nicer one for my 68.

I am putting mirrors on both sides of my Charger also.

Can anybody tell me what car these mirrors are from originally?

They look a bit like XA - XC Ford Falcon mirrors?  :shruggy:
"An aggressive exterior with power to match was enough to pull in the performance boys-especially when abetted by a pair of pipes blaring out the back, and brawny red-sidewall rubber hitting the pavement."

"........the four speed box changes cogs with the precision of a sharp axe striking soft pine."

b5blue

They look like 70's Ford. On second gen. the mirrors mount the same side to side, just measure drivers side and go the same on pass. side, there is a topic here on that if you do a search. I have Ralley side mirrors for my 70, I got lucky on ebay and got the correct 1 year only pass. side one, it's shaped different (more oval) and swept at more of an angle than others. (At first I thought it was wrong)   :Twocents:

chargd72

My guess is they are from a sport bike. Possibly an RC 51?
