Well, today after church my stepdad was talking to a guy who said that he liked our Firebird and he told my stepdad he is a Mopar guy.. He has a '69 Dart that he purchased from the original owner back when he lived in San Diego and he said that if I was looking for a Mopar project car then to contact him..From what He says, it sounds solid, it is a 225 Slant Six with a 3spd auto, B5 Blue with a B3 blue interior.. He said it isn't going anywhere anytime soon.. I am getting a job at a garage this summer so I hope I can snag this one!

Sublime/Sixpack

'69 was my favorite year Dart. The one you're looking at could be a fun car! Good luck with it.

I had a 69 dart...Picked it up at the police auction for $100.00.B5 blue with blue guts.Put a 400 in it. It was the most fun car I ever owned. I had $400.00 in it finished. It could not not beat my friend's 429 CJ Cyclone but could give it a good run.It is the one car I regret sending to the crusher. I gave a girl a ride in it and scared the s*&$ out of her(she married me in spite of it) :lol:The block from that car is currently in my charger.

Why did you send it to the crusher?

Thanks for the support guys! From what he said, it sounds like a rock-solid car and he is going to let it go for cheap! And the best part is, It Runs!! If I do get it, I know It will be a nice weather driver, I would want to put a set of cheap wheels on it, but not dog dishes, maybe some Centerline Auto Drags (http://www.tperformance.com/category_pics/large/Auto_drag.jpg)..

UPDATE!!! I went and saw it, I took my camera, however it was dead :brickwall:..Anyways, the car is an LL23 Dart 2-Door hardtop.. It has Manual Steering and Brakes, this car is unmolested save for the paint, but I will get to that in a little bit..

The car has 30,330 original miles and was sold new in San Jose, California. It has had one repaint by Earl Scheib, but I went around the car with a magnet and it is rock solid! It was originally B3 Blue but it was repainted in B5, which is now almost completely sunburned off.. The car hasn't moved since 2002 so the Carburator, fuel lines, brake lines and Gas Tank will need some work.. It has had only one modification to it and that was the installation of an Electronic Ignition unit.. The car has the Radio delete option and it has a bench seat interior, the California sun was not nice to the headliner or seatcovers so it will need those as well.. The guy said that when he bought it, around the mid 1980's or so, it had the original sparkplugs, filters and tires...

It needs a new rear bumper, the original one has a giant crease in the middle from an accident involving a little old lady.. The car has no serious rust, however, it has three dime size surface rust spots and it is starting to bubble around the rocker panel area..

The guy said he want's $1500 for it, and it comes with a set of small bolt pattern 14 Inch wheels, a replacement Headlamp Bezel and the original California Black Plates..
Now, my question is, does $1500 seem abit steep for a Slant Six Dart? I was thinking about talking him down to around $1200 or so..

$1500 doesn't sound too bad to me, but if you can get him to go lower, by all means go for it.  I love '69 Darts.

$1500 is about right for that car, not a steal, but a good price. if you can get him down more i wouldn't hesitate to pull the trigger

I think it's about fair territory for the price from the way it sounds, but I want to see what it looks like.   :yesnod:

BIRD67

Excellent, Hopefully I will get pics sometime, or if I remember to ask him, maybe he can take some pics and email them to me.. I really want this car, but my parents said I need to come up with the money, so far I do not have a job, however there is a garage I could work at this summer, it's right across the street.. I love drawing, so there is another option of drawing cars and selling them, though they aren't the best drawings.. My mom's friend just opened up a BBQ shack and I might be able to help there.. Hmm, what do you guys thing? Right now I am not so sure on the drawings for cash, I mainly draw at school, but I am doing one special project for the forum..

:scratchchin: well, just to play the devils' advocate for a minute,.. you say there's no rust, then you say it's "Bubbleing around the rockers" and there's "dime sized rust spots" and it needs a headliner dash pad and paint... so while it might be a nice beater to cruise around in, i doubt it's worth a major investment in time and cash..
if it was a demon  :naughty: with a 340, I'd say hell yeah,.. or even a swinger with a 318,.. but if you don't jump on the first lead on a mopar to come along,..  you could possibly score a really nice example, afterall your not in any position to swing the deal finacially now anyway...

I'm just sayin..  :shruggy:

BIRD67

Yeah, what I meant by that was NO Serious Rust to be concerned with at all! Heck, even the underframe was mint, however it needed to be cleaned.. I am not looking for this car to be an investment or an all-out bruiser, I jsut want something classic to drive without having to worry too much about scratches or nicks in the paint, a daily driver if you want to go so far to say that.. As far as the bubbling, yes, there are like one or two dime sized bubbles and there are a few small (read=tiny) areas of surface rust, but that is from the California sun beating down on the paint and rain hitting the bare metal. I really want this one, and Brock, I should challenge you to find ANY Mopar project car around here, most of them have either rotted away or are 15 Miles away.. There are VERY FEW Mopars around here, it's mostly Camaros and Mustangs with the occasional Chevelle..

Heck?.
Anyhow,..  of course if you Really Want This One, then by all means...
Me, I'd pass and look for a decent demon or duster,.. Your young enuff that at this stage in the game you can afford...   :smilielol: so sorry,..  to look for a better example of an A-Bod.

Look forward to seeing the pics! sounds like a score

69 273?  I thought Dodge replace the 273 in 69...
Never underestimate the power of stupid people in large groups.  Especially if they have access to the internet.
