I started different therapy today to use forearm crutches.

Therapist said my back, etc., should be ready for persay a Bow Flex and he was impressed I wanted to do something like this.  So now I won't worry as much about my little titanium cage built around my vertebrae. :yesnod:

Anybody have experience with the Bow Flex?  I need convenience, accessibility and it looks to fit the bill.  I can walk and stand if I have something to hold on to.

THANKS in advance for any opinions.
Mike.

AllBlue, the BowFlex is considered by many to be the best in-home gym you can get. Many dedicated weight lifters and personal trainers I know own them. Even body builders with hectic schedules who can't get into the gym every day use them in their off days at home. They are sturdy, have great versatility and offer total resistance through the entire range of motion (something free weights can't even do). I have tried them out and was impressed with their quality and versatility. If I ever got to the point where I couldn't go the gym 5 days a week I would first consider buying a BowFlex without a question. The downside is that they can get pricey when new, but you can find them used as well...it just depends on wether or not the warranty is a big deal to you. If you do buy used, try to buy one of the newest versions you can find as you will be able to add options onto it easier such as the ab crunch, peck deck, etc... Weight training is one of the best ways to boost your spirits and get the blood flowing. Also, they have proven that moderate weight training will actually help you control unwanted weight gain and will actually prolong your life. Muscle burns fat, it aids in skeletal stability, fast paced workouts will improve your cardiovascular health and you get an endorphine release after a good workout. I have seen many guys in wheel chairs that were 10 times healthier and had a better quality of life than the average schmos walking the streets. If you have any training questions, feel free to send me an IM. Good luck...and good choice.

Mike,

I know very little about Bowflex but I just wanted to say it's good to see that you're looking at some serious options to get yourself moving again. I think it will do nothing but help you do the things you really want to do in life. That's all.

I checked into getting a bowflex system about a year ago. With working 60+ hours a week at my job it was hard talking the wife into letting me go to the gym every night after work. So I was thinking about going with a bowflex system. I didn't get one, because I couldn't find anyone who had used one. So I went the free weight route. Now I have 1 of my garage spaces filled with racks of weights, a bench, and bars. I think in the long run I should have went with the bowflex. Smaller system, and now after a year, I have found others who have used them and are very satisfied with them.

Nothing wrong with a woman of that age being fit, and toned.

The Aquamax...yes, this bike spent 2 nights underwater one weekend. (Not my doing), but it gained the name, and has since become pseudo-famous. :)
