The newest member of the fleet is a '74 Scout II:

(sellers pix)

It's a staight 6 4-speed Scout with dual Dana 44s, Dana 20 TC and IIRC a T19 trans.

Kinda hard to tell from the pic, but the 6 has an Offenhauser (sp?) intake with a 4 bbl carb.

Anyone here know anything about that intake?

Most of the straight 6 Scouts I know of came with 1 or 2 bbl carbs.

Someone was setting her up as an offroad/trail truck, 'cause she's been lifted and now has 33x12.50R15s.

They also rust protected the frame and sprayed a bed liner type stuff on the floor pans and bed.

I'll get some more pix this weekend, when my friend and I go camping.

Thanks for lookin'.

Wing, thanks for the info too.

I don't know jack about the 6s International used.

My previous '74 Scout had a 345 V8 in it.

Any pros/cons with the 258?

I don't have any experience with them. Just that they are a AMC product. :yesnod: :yesnod:
ciffordperformance.com makes performance parts for them. Oh, and Xtreme 4x4 on Spike TV is building a earlier 800 Scout. :drool5: You should keep an eye open for when new episodes start again.
The guys on justih.com have a TON of info about these cornbinders. Also, there are a lot of companies that make parts for them. Even complete fiberglass tubs! :o

Complete tubs, fender, complete Super Scout packages. :coolgleamA:

Super Scout Specialists (http://www.superscoutspecialists.com/store/default.aspx) has a ton of stuff on their site.

And you better believe she's for getting dirty.  :yesnod:

I'm looking forward to finding some places around here to try her out.

Nice score. :2thumbs: Dad had one years ago with the 258-6 in it and it would pull down a house. Dad has had them for years. I love the scouts and would love to have another one. My last one had an early '62-'64 392 4bbl and would run like its ass was on fire. Well when it would actually run anyways. I ended up selling it for $450 after the trans came out of it. The floorpans were out of it, the rockers were gone and the front windshield was leaking like hell but I loved it.
Check out  http://www.anythingscout.com/ and also http://www.superscoutspecialists.com/store/ for parts. We used to buy alot of stuff from them.

Manfred, thanks for the Anything Scout link!

Just ordered a speedo cable and some other bits and pieces.

Yeah, I've got a lot of fond memories of my dad and his '74.

My previous '74 was in sad shape and never really got to do anything more than sit.

This one is a blast already.

Although she doesn't like the highway.  :icon_smile_big:

Very cool Johnny  :2thumbs: I remember you told me your Father had one, and you wanted one now you have!

bull

I'm an old IH man too. I don't have one currently but I've owned a '73 Scout II (the same green as yours) with a Terra hard top, a baby blue '79 Traveler that had a Terra soft top on it for a while and a brown '71 step side pickup, which I hear are very rare. I hope to get a Scout again someday, probably another '73 or older.

You can just see the front of my old '70 Charger in the right of this first pic:

No problem. Glad I could help :yesnod: They are usually great to deal with and have quite a few hard to find parts.
I think Ive posted a pic before, but heres a few of the last Scout I had. It was a '78 Scout II with a 392 4bbl and factory A/C.

Yea you had to lean towards the middle of the thing when you sat in the drivers seat to keep from falling thru the floor boards. The pass. side wasnt much better.

I thought the 345 was the biggest V8 available in the Scout? :scratchchin: The 392 was only in pickups and Travelalls.
Yea all you really got was hot air off of the motor comming thru all the holes.
Wing you are correct. The 345 was the biggest V8 available in the Scout. The motor was changed in mine at some point to the 392. It came out of an early 60's Travelall.

I have always wanted to find a Scout Terra or a stepside pickup.  :drool5: :drool5: I would defiantly run a 345 myself. More available aftermarket parts than the 392...
The stepside is just too freakin rare. :brickwall:

Jeez, man, that'd take a couple layers of skin off your leg. :o

On the other hand, I bet the water didn't get trapped in there anymore.  :nana:

Bull, sweet rides!

I'd love to have another, but all stock.

One year, maybe.

Mike, yeah I remember talking about that when I was down that way.

I really want to go back, or move there.

I miss NZ, man.

Finally got the time to scan a picture. My grandpa bought it brand new and gave it to my dad later on. It's been a various selection of colours since then but this is the colour I remember (it was always blue since I was born). He sold it a few years ago due to financial matters.
