My 69 has power brakes.  It has not been on the road in three years.  Now it's time to drive it. Only one problem.  When I push the brakes the pedal stays down and I have to pull the brake back up with my foot.  What would cause this and how do I fix it?

Could be a couple of things.....

  • lubrication or grease dried up on bell crank pivot at the brake pedal
  • master cylinder bore could have rust which is not allowing the piston to return to its ready state
  • return spring could have broken or is missing

THanks for the info - I lubed the brake pedal area and it does work a little better but still not satisfactory.  I'll check the master cylinder bore.

Thanks

Yes, if you have a factory service manual, I believe there is a pic in there of where it goes.  My manual is currently at my parents house.   :brickwall:
