an american idol thread on the charger site?   now I've seen everything.

ok, but who doesn't like carrie underwood, country rocks!  specially pretty girls that can sing, taylor swift?  mmm

C'mon.....Country music has been the same mass marketed celebrity of the week garbage as AI since the mid 90's at least. Most real country music died a long time ago.

when Taylor Swift and some Australian dude are the flag bearers for country music, it's a pretty sad state of affairs. Johnny, Waylon, Patsy, Merle et al must be turning in their graves...

Oh, here's some info from last years winner:
Season 7 winner David Cook went on to break a number of Billboard chart records, even taking out one of Miley Cyrus' albums (watch it, Cook). He's still on the rise, but at only a year out, it's tough to tell whether he'll end up a Kelly or a Ruben.

O.K here's another:
When resident bada$$ Chris Daughtry was voted off the show, he felt the voting public made a mistake. He went on to form his own band (aptly named Daughtry). They won several Grammys and their first album debuted at No. 1. Take THAT, America.

More you say?:
Jordin Sparks has a platinum record under her belt. No Grammys, but she got a 'Worst Slipup' MTV VMA when she made a remark about the Jonas Brothers and "sl*ts." Now she's going on tour with the Jonas boys. Nicely played, Jordin.

50 Cent and Kanye West have sold more records and won more awards than any of those hacks, but if you're one of the rap haters, I bet you'll say that they're talentless.

Selling millions of records and winning awards don't necessarily mean that one is talented. It means that millions of people CAN be wrong. I mean, Hootie and the Blowfish sold like 20 million records, for chrissakes.

" 50 Cent and Kanye West have sold more records and won more awards than any of those hacks "

Gee millions of Rappers must be wrong.  Ladies and Gents we have a new "outthere ".

Don't forget Big and Rich. Remember they were gonna carry the torch as the next "superstars" of country music. Thank god that torch was extinguished.

Ah, No.  Not some, but all of your opinions are way out there.  And Jennifer's tragedy was after her success.

Out there opinions....could be. Lets talk about their careers in 5-7 years and see how they are doing? I'm thinking my predictions are going to be closer to the mark.
Then why aren't you talking about Kelly 8 years after and still out there?  See how you are out there?

Kelli Clarkson is at the end of her "mediocre" run, she's getting old, she's getting fat and she's becoming unmarketable as far as the music industry goes. Newer, but necassarily better has replaced her. Like I said watch for your county fair fliers in your area.
Here's how out there you are.  Kelly has so many awards I can't list them and they run right up to our time line.

Your all wrong, I am right.  I'm done.  Oh don't forget to watch AI tonight.  :2thumbs:

ya, sometimes I hear a taylor swift song, and I have to struggle to hear the "country" in it,  heh.
There are a lot of great songs that I like on the 3 country stations I listen to, they are new artists, probably a form of "country top forty",  I know, but there are still some great songs, that I think are country.
I am not trying to compare taylor swift or carrie underwood to any great country artists of the past.  of course not.  they are nice to look at in their videos and some tunes are catchy is all, but ya, I know they are marketed at junior highschool kids.     I like male artists and female artists, but there are some nice looking country singers, that's all,   tina mcbride, sarah evans, shanai twain, although a lot of it ends up being pop garbage, I know, but what are ya gonna do? you know?  I don't really have any cd's, I just listen to the radio,

Why would you want anything else?  Just give me a Charger and I'll be happy.

Oh so when proven wrong, you'll try to use the excuse awards are not a way to judge success?  Yeah, O.K

69DodgeCharger

Awards? They hand those out like trophies at big car shows based on marketing/profits, not talent. What kind of concert venues is she playing? What kind of endorsement deals? What are her total concert receipts? How did she fair against established acts with comparable tour schedules. If you want to watch that brain rot crap that's fine but don't come out and tell us all how great it is, becasue it's not. These so called "stars" are poofs.....Like poof where did they go? I think you just watch it for the theme music.

Gee all this wisdom coming from someone who just said  " I have never watched one episode of American Idol..........ever. "

That's like asking someone who didn't vote what he thinks about politics?  I think chargerrfor me proved his point well.

I don't have to watch it to be aware of it. I have read about it on more than one occasion out of morbid curiousity. I am bombarded with it on a daily basis by the media, (and you) telling me how great it is. I hear the crappy theme music on tv commercials 20 times a day. I hear about it on the radio. I have to see it in the paper. I also noticed that you conveniently decided not to answer my questions about Kelli Clarkson with your "facts" I'm sure you could look it all up online easy enough. You know as well as I do these people are not stars. Just matches that happened to light when struck. but matches burn out.....quickly. The fact that AI is such a popular show with such influence is a very disturbing snapshot of this country and what is regarded as relevant anymore. So you are a big fan of a bad TV show. Great for you.......Would you like a refill of your "koolaide" to sip on as you watch AI sir?

"You know more about the show than i do and i watch it every week."

The only thinkg I know about it is this. It's a terrible show with one Judge who's mantra is "I'm feeling/just not feeling it Dawg"

Some brunette I have never heard of....

A doped up wacky flash in the pan ex LA Laker cheeleader. (She made it without AI)

And a pompous British prick, albeit one that is smart in selling people crap they don't need.

Other than that all I know is that is a lame show with "marginal" talent It's basically professional wrestling, but singing is the competition instead. Stop the madness.....Boycott AI

American Idol, what are we thinking?  I thought the top 3 ( in my mind ) Danny Allison and Adam did great.  People love Chris but he doesn't do it for me.  Bye Matt.
