Any Orange 69 chargers out there with a white tail stripe?

Here's the skinny on V2 HemiOrange availability...

Project Engineering Transmittal EE-110, dated 3/7/69, was sent out to Lynch Road, St. Louis, Hamtramck and Los Angeles assembly plants.  That transmittal references Manual Page Number C-2 and C-3.

I dug through and found Sheet C-3 in the "E" Series Sales Code Manual, which actually shows the date the change was incorporated into the Production line.  That date is March 26, 1969... shows that the paint codes V2 HemiOrange for Dart/Coronet/Chargers was added on 2/27/69.  Paint code K2 for Plymouth B-bodies was added the same day on a change made to Sheet C-2.  While the paint availability was added to Chrysler's home office documentation on that day, the change was not sent out to the actual factories that same day.  The transmittal which records when this particular change was sent out to Lynch Road, St. Louis, Los Angeles and Hamtramck Assembly Plants was dated 3/7/69 as noted above.

Theoretically, no Dart (L), Coronet(W) or Charger(X) would have been sprayed out with V2 Hemi Orange paint (incidentally, K2 for Plymouth B-bodies was mentioned on the same sheets on the same dates) prior to 3/26/69  3/7/69.  I'd be real skeptical of any car coded V2 prior to that time.  99 Special Order paint is another story, but V2 should not appear anywhere until right around that time. 

When the first car in that color appeared, I dunno.  Chris is correct though, there are several Daytonas coded V2 with an SPD of 4/27/69, when a batch of about 100 Daytonas were scheduled to be built.

The one 99 99 paint code 500 that I have seen had a black stripe on it the 2 times I"ve seen it. However I have been told that there may be a 2nd 99 99 paint code 500 as well, but I have yet to confirm this with any viewings of the car. If/when I do get to see I'll sure let you guys know.

I can think of a few 500's that were sprayed an orange color back in the day, but can't seem to find any pictures of one with a white stripe though.

The one I have registered on 3/17/69 has a 940 special order VON...here is a pic of the tag that I remembered I had....

Looking at it now it looks a bit suspect (not the part where I wiped out the last 6 of the VIN)

I'm not half as educated as you guys, and the first thing I thought when I saw that tag was, it looks like the repro one on my car. Perfect and flat with sharp corners.

I'm surprised to read how many of you like the white stripe?  Cool.  Is it me or does that car have the emblems on it also, ironically the reason I'm changing mine.

OK, I need to back up and correct something.  All the document reference numbers are the same, but the sheet dated 3/26/69 has multiple changes listed to it - the last one of which was indeed dated 3/26/69.  All the other changes had an earlier date listed, which I didn't notice while typing the first reply.      Chrysler constantly sent out revised sheets to the assembly plants throughout the model year, and they often sent the same sheet multiple times.  Every time a line change was made, they sent out a new copy of the same sheet with the intention of having the old sheet pulled out, discarded, and replaced with the new/revised sheet.  I keyed in on the wrong date, as the V2 and K2 paint changes were not the last change made to Sheet C-2 and C-3.  That's my mistake.

The line change which introduced V2 HemiOrange (and K2 Vitamin C) paint as being available was actually dated 2/27/69.  It was included in a transmittal to the respective assembly plants on the 3/7/69 date I mentioned above.  They sent yet another copy of C-2 and C-3 out to the plants on 3/26/69, but by then the V2 and K2 changes had already been made.

What all this means, and I apologize for being so wordy and confusing, is that a Dart/Coronet/Charger built sometime after 3/7/69 could theoretically have had V2 (or K2 for Plymouth B-bodies) HemiOrange paint.  The tag that Chris posted a picture of could be a replacement tag from a car with those codes, but I agree it seems a little "too nice".  That 940xxx VON is a headscratcher too.

The earliest K2 cars I have on file are an A12 RR with a 329 SPD, so you really don't know when it was built, and a STL built RR also with 329.
