we never got down here at TV ( as far I remember ) the seasons with Coy and Vance replacing Bo and Luke.

Were they or did they keep the same feeling on show, keeping same audience ?

was watching for the first time some videos at youtube of them and what can I say, the initial presentation with tittles with them really $UCK$, simply plain stupid with "BODIED" actors ( really models instead actors if you ask me ) but dunno about the show itself, first time to me.

I always thought the Bo & Luke seasons were better. The Coy & Vance season was meh in my opinion. :Twocents:

Yea....even though I was a little kid, those seasons with the scab dukes just seemed fake for some reason.

Nacho-RT74

well, I think from the BEGINING, the way they are introduced on show it was plain stupid ( although in a Mopar )... they simply MAGICALLY show up from nowhere

I think a slower "crossover", somehow, would have got better results. Maybe first one of them, then the other, but magically both at the same time on one car from different places and jobs it looks stupid

I met Byron Cherry at I think it was the 2000 Boerne Texas TDC show. He played Coy. He was a neat guy to talk to. He was funny talking about the show. They knew it was gonna be a short job. It was a job and it was a way in to the acting scene. He said Flash had his own camper and a better paying contract then he did.

In the original scripts, they had Bo and Luke names cross out and Coy and Vance writen above them. Byron and Chris both had to watch hour and hours of Tom and John at how they would move around and then they had to do the same thing that Tom and John did as in movements. This is why it didn't go over very well with viewers. The two new duke boys wasn't allowed to creat there own characters like Tom and John had done. But rather Byron and Chris had to be Bo and Luke but just as two different cousin's though.  The jump in with the mopar, that jump had a short take off up to the ramp and was the first episode to use nos for a jump. Ted Barbra is the one that did that jump. I also agree that if they would have maybe in the prior season to that season of Bo and Luke on the phone talking to the other two about going out on the nascar that when the two new ones came in it would have been more beliveable then just them up and showing up like they did.

yes thats plain stupid, just play the roll the Bo and Luke with same characteres is stupid... they should have its own personality... maybe some similarities, but not "exactly".

and I can understand the problem with Tom and John about theirs contract was unexpected so is imposible to make the "perfect" crossover between both couples ofr cousins, but this way was RIDICULOUS.

Coy & Vance were on Dukes for less than one season.  They started season #5 with Coy & Vance, but Bo & Luke returned in time for the last few episodes of season #5.  Coy and Vance never returned for any future episodes after that.

Coy & Vance were on for about 20 episodes.  The whole thing was not planned out.  After season#4 Schneider & Wopat's accountants discovered that Warner Bros owed them millions of dollars in back pay from seasons #2-4, so they went on strike immediately.  The studio could not develop a very plausible introduction and reason for the switch because they had no time or warning.

Part of the reason that Coy & Vance sucked was the scripts - Schneider and Wopat sometimes changed the words to the scripts as they went along.  They did not make any major changes to the storylines, but they tried to make the dialogue sound more natural.  Byron Cherry & Chris Mayer were trying to obey all the rules and keep the studio happy so they just read the words that were printed on the pages.  It shows how bad the scripts were.

(Look at the recent Star Wars prequel movies.  Ewan MacGregor, Natalie Portman, Samuel L Jackson, Liam Neeson, etc.  Those are high quality actors when they are in other movies.  But they're reading crappy dialogue in the new Star Wars movies so they seem to be acting badly.)

Nacho-RT74

well that says Schneider and Wopat were good actors after all!!!! ( opposite what some ppl could say )
