If i were to post a poll on which military service everyone likes best, would that be considered against the rules?

Dakota

I'd say it probably isn't against the rules, but I'm not a mod...so what do I know.

It could always turn political, but I think at that point THEN they'd zap/lock the thread.

Thank you sir.

That would be like asking which NFL football team everyone likes the best.

FWIW, if you don't want to work too hard go for the Air Force. If you want to bust your a$$, join the Marines. Everything else is in-between.

I don't think it's political, just a basic question as long as no one discusses the political aspects of it.

I was in between, and I agree with your assessment.

Now, I don't think it was a knock on the AF, I think, from what I heard it's a lot of classes and mental stuff, more then the physical element.... I'm sure someone will correct me ;)

Navy for me.  Air Force, for quality of life cannot be beat!  Father was 32 year Air Force.

On the other hand it takes 7 Air Force techs to do what one "squid" can.

Hey , by the way, I get to wear my SDB's one more time on the 29th for the Togus VA director installation.  They asked me last week if I would lead everyone saying the POA.  I'm stoked!! Ok, so I can't let it go, who cares I loved it!

I am very seriously considering applying for Marine OCS after graduation.  I need to get out of my comfort zone and do something extremely challenging.  I'd say the Marines should take care of that!

How much time do you have left in school?
Are you enrolled in NROTC or PLC(platoon leaders class) or OCC(officer candidates class).  PLC is for more than a year left in school.  OCC is for college seniors or graduates.  Please look into those if you haven't already.

Marine OCS is a screening only(read that as an intense boot camp), to see if you can become a Marine Corps Officer.  It's at Quantico and consists of multiple weeks of screening.  It's either 6 weeks(x2 over 2 different summers) or 10 weeks.  If/when you make it through OCS, then you go to the FOS(follow on school).  That is where you learn the skill set to be an Officer in the Marine Corps.
Don't rule out Navy OCS either.  :2thumbs:

Good luck and thanks for considering the Military.

That explains it heheheh

Seriously, Everyone has the right to their opinion, but I have to add the military is more then just that man. For some people it gives the guidance and direction in life. Me, I needed the help with the discipline and focus, I just floated through my younger years just thinking about myself, and thought being who I was was all I needed in Life. The Military tough me to be a lot less selfish and caring of others. People think it's just blood and guts and glory, That people that enlist are thrill seekers. While that may be true for a few, it's not what the majority take out of it.

I have one year left, therefore, should I be accepted I would go through the OCC program.  My school (Missouri S&T - Formerly University of Missouri Rolla) doesn't have a NROTC program, just Army & Air Force.
I believe they call FOS "TBS" (The Basic School) nowadays.
I have been doing extensive research and have been working with my local OSO.  I am almost 100% sure I want to do this, but like I said, I have to be accepted first!
