Looking for info on the 17 General Lee's bought from Warner Brothers

Is he from Seattle?  If so, I think he brought his car to our mopar show back in 2007.  Here is a pic of the general lee that was there and it's owner.  The white '69 next to it is mine before it went to the body shop in Feb. of 2008.

It is real He has had several. Kraig Kummins. He is redoing a movie Lee right now.

I haven't seen it myself so I can't verify anything.

There have also been a few people over the last couple years tell me about an "original" GL not far south of me that was/is undergoing a full resto. Shame if it is, unless it was total crud to start with.

Like I said, I didn't see it myself, although I would have probably been the only one there that "may" have been able to call fake if he'd come before I left.

few years back  , there was an original charger from the show  ,  well was a WB general lee , but used more for publicity i believe , & had no screen time what so ever  ,  was originally green  might even been an R/T SE  but deffo was  a R/T four speed  ,  , it was bought by some chebby business man who repoped the first rear quarters or was going to for the second generation charger ,  anyways he bought this car  , just to jump it  ,  needless to say wrecked it pretty good  ,   think Hlpeg bought it  re-boddied it & sold to to some guy in Oz saying they repaired it !! 
there are a lot of threads about it on here  & even the jump video on youtube ,    some of the facts i've mentioned may not be quite correct , just trying to remember stuff ,  some of the GL charger Mob will be able to fill in the correct story , 
  if indeed i'm thinking of the right one

I don`t think so. I would need to see it in person and could tell if I seen it.There are tell tale signs if it is real just by looking at particular parts of the car.

From what I've read I think the third one was WGL76, I can't figure out if it sold or when and what it sold for though. I think it was for sale sometime in 2009.

Yep. Works just down the street from my office...

He is a SOLID regular at Mopar and all makes shows.  LOVES to let people check out the car, he honks the horn and kids get pictures hangin out the window.  Jim is a really good guy.

Tan, that was a factory 4-speed car and was a GLE car. Hlpag bought it, fixed it and sold it as a real General Lee and was the only factory 4-speed General ever used. LIARS!

Does anyone know about the General Lee that was at the Pioneer Auto Museum in South Dakota? That one looked real authentic. I'm not sure if it's even there I visited it on a family vacation about twelve years ago. I have a pic of it somewhere i'll try to post it if I find it.

Thats too bad. I googled the museum and it shows they still have it. It says it's the REAL General Lee. It also says it's on loan. Thats a hell of a long time to loan your car out. I was there in '98 I think

You should assume that any GL being called "real" is phony unless proven otherwise.  Especially any GL that's in a car museum and/or for sale.  It's like calling a musclecar a "survivor," the term is meaningless most of the time.

Another giveaway is the condition of the car.  The TV Generals were nowhere near as nice as most replicas are.  They were like a taxicab fleet, looking tolerable from 20 feet at that's it.  The bodywork was so quick & dirty that no normal body shop would have done it.

I have been friends with Jim and knew him when he got the General Lee.  The real cars are usually easy to spot as they have no side marker lights.  They used 68's and 69's for the series (Jim's is titled as a 68).  They removed the side marker lights, put some duct tape in the trunk and bondoed over them.  They were afraid of complaints from the real Charger guys as that is was not a 69 Charger.  On Jim's car you can feel that the flag was painted only once and masked off each time the car was repainted.  There is a ridge that can be felt easily.  Here are some pictures of his car.  As far as the contract, Jim told me he owns the car, but WB still owns the rights to the show and he said that it is pretty iron clad.

I just thought it was a restored original at Pioneer, but it makes sense, it was too pretty to be the real thing

Ok, just because i'm watching it right now, is there any of the new DOH movie cars hanging around? Either from the original movie or DOH "The Beginning" movie?
