can a standard 400 big block be made into a 426 hemi???

No. The HEMI block is unique, along with everything else.

Someone made Hemi heads before, to bolt on wedge engines. 383/400/440..I Just can't remember who and if they were any good ??

stage 6 engineering, i can't find anyone who has them and their website 2 years ago had nothing on it, you can make a 400 into a 426wedge motor though

You'd have to get a custom stroked crank to do it though wouldn't you?  Most of the 400 stroker kits start at the 451 cid size I believe.

400 block 440 crank is a 451 stroker can get a lot of power for a lot less money.thats what I would do with a 400.

i was just thinking you could over bore it to get to that point, not really the stroker thought, what would it be at .20 over??  .30 over?  .40 over??,,, etc

400 already has a larger bore than a 426, the crank has a much shorter throw.  So it would take a little less than 4.5 just doing a quickie on the math-which is about a .250 overbore.
Since boring would actually be sizes like .030 or .040, to go a 1/4 inch oversize is a little too much.
