Looking to do the rear brakes on the Charger, how do I know what size drums I have. Measured ID of drum is 10" OD is 11.5". The car is supposedly an R/T, VIN would indicate as would some of the parts but I have my doubts. Also, differential is cast with 2881489. Is this a good differential? Car seems to be pretty original. Shocks look like they have the original undercoating goo on them as well. I've got a million questions about this thing. Been on this Forum for a while and had the car for a while as well, just time to start doing something with it.

Thanks.

ID is the correct measurement so you have 10 " brakes
the 489 carrier is the last one & has the largest pinion at 1 7/8" diameter , , iut is a good carrier but the earlier 742 is stronger as it doen`t have the crush sleeve in it , the crush sleeve can be replaced in the 489 with a spacer & shims ,which is a big improvement

Do you have 4 wheel drum or Disc/drum? Is it an R/T?

Life isn't Father Knows Best anymore, it's a kick in the face on a saturday night with a steel toed grip kodiak work boot and a trip to the hospital all bloodied and bashed.....for reconstructive surgery. But, what doesn't kill us, makes us stronger, right?

According to the VIN its an RT XS29UOG. The last numbers match the core support, I have the build sheet, it matches the VIN, The fender tag matches all of the above, looks like original undercoating on everything. Drivers door however has a different VIN. It has Disc/drum combo but looks like 10" on the back? Would that be correct for an R/T? or was it optional? Also, the Master Cyl. has the lines exiting on the drivers side like the Hemi cars or the manual cars. Would like to go back with the larger rear brakes but would need new backing plates. Anyone out there repop these things or junk yard ideas???
