Ok, I admit it has been a long time since I've rebuilt a big block. That being said, I just finished assembling my 383, gave it a coat of paint, and noticed this had fallen off the shelf and rolled across the floor.. Im thinking it goes behind the timing chain gear? I know it goes on the crank somewhere..... :brickwall:

oil slinger - goes on the crank between the timing chain and the timing chain cover - keeps most of the oi off the front seal to help prevent leaks...
