The 30's are the best time of my life....

So i'm 33, soon to be 34 and i was once told that the 30's are the best time of my life.  When i was Back in college (13 years ago) about 1996,  i was on a trip to Long Beach, CA to run a steeple chase at csulb.edu* and i sat next to a woman on the plane who just turned "39".  As far as in knew at the time, every woman was deadlocked at 39.    (ya right)

So, the flight from MPS to Vegas was a few hours long and we got to talking and she was telling me about life and what to expect at certain ages and certain positions in your career.   She said, that your 20's pretty much suck because you are trying to pay down your early 20's debt, and get established in the workplace and if you went to college you are still wondeering how the hell you are ever going to pay off those college loans and start banking money for a house someday.

Then in your 30's you are caught up in debt besides mortgage, and you once again have the freedom to go out and do the things you used too with the addition of a babysitter.  (who lives across the street)(talk about convience!) 

Anyways, i thought i'd post to give the under 30 crowd a realization that once you have a family and live on one income that there is still hope that you can keep/or get the Charger you've always wanted and keep the tradition alive for your kids.  When i was born i rode home from the hospital in a '73 Road Runner that my Dad bought a week before.  My mom held her hands over my ears the whole way home so that i wouldnt go deaf from the loud exhaust.  Circa 1975.  My Dad still has the road runner...

that is why I'm doing it smart...   I'm 22 and taking my time in college...    but as of right now I have gotten no financial aide and have taken out NO LOANS...   meaning if I get done with college next year (as is the plan) I will have 0 debt

I'm going to be 43 next month and besides noticing that my body isn't what it used to be, 40's are great.
20's were very fun but with consequences, 30's were all about work, money, work, money, bad women, money and work.
But the 40's so far the biggest thing I have noticed is that I make pretty good decisions. My common sense/wisdom is really kicking in.

Thanks for the heads up there Paul. Being as I am 30 about to be 31 in a few months, I'm glad to know that the 30's are a good time. If they truly are the best part of life, then  I should be expecting another kid in this decade, along with a Daytona right?

I would actually have to say that this is true. We had our girls, owned a '79 Vette, '71 Charger Superbee and a '69 Charger and bought our home while we were in our thirties. Now we are in our 40's and still paying for our 30's.

So far I'd have to agree. I just turned 31 on Wednesday, and I'm enjoying the hell out of it. I got through college without student loans so I was able to afford to buy a house a couple of years ago. I have a good job with good benefits that I've enjoyed for 11 years. While I don't have a lot of extra $$ to spare on the Charger, at least it is safely garaged on property that is mine.

I was great til I turned 35. After that, My hair started falling out, I developed allergies, and the aches and pains started. I'm now 45, and when I wake up in the morning, it seriously takes me 15 minutes to get out of bed in the morning because of stiffness. Life seems to move along at a much faster pace too then it used to. It's like the Kenny Chesney song "Don't Blink", you go to bed at 7 years old, and wake up and your 25, married, and have kids
