Carlisle questions. You driving your classic, spring or Mopar show?

Have you ever driven your Classic Mopar or Charger to Carlisle PA?
Do you do several shows (Spring or fall etc...) or just the Chrysler show?
How many hours of a drive was it for you, and did you have any issues?
I'm trying to decide to trailer my car or drive it. I'm looking at a 4 hour drive each way, and I do have AAA just in case.  :icon_smile_big:

4 hours doesn't scare me.  4 days may make me think twice.  I'm more worried about leaving the car in motel parking lots than breaking down.   Bob

I haven't (yet) driven one of my cars to Carlisle - but it's also 9 hours away. I have driven to Monster Mopar which is only 5 hours and Norwalk which is about 4. I typically go to Carlisle, the Mopat National, Monster Mopar, and several of the Chrysler Classic events each year. I go to local shows about every week and drive to them all. I put 14k miles on my Cuda in less than 2 summers and about 5k on my Charger last summer.

When I go in 2010, I'll be flying in and riding around with Jackie and Shelby in the Daytona and Challenger.  I would like to drive my Charger in the years after that....2327.24 MILES EACH WAY! :icon_smile_big:

I drove my Charger over there to Carlisle last year and intend on doing it again this year. 620 miles each way, at 12.5 mpg. Makes for lots of gas, but lots of enjoyment as well.

Personally didn't have any troubles out of the car at all on that trip. Don't figure I will have any this year either. Although still hoping to swap gears out in the rear end for this years trip to help with the cruising speed.

I wish that he was 6 years old, then he would have even more patience. He was 4 last summer over there at Carlisle. He turned 5 back in October. He just looks older with his smart looking glasses. :) He actually did pretty good for spending 21 hours in a 69 Charger over a 4 day span with nothing to entertain him but his dad, the sound of the engine, and what he could see out of the windows. As we all know an AM radio in a 69 Charger doesn't keep a station for very long, and none of them are playing music.

I usually trailer the car to Carlisle . . .  first because its 9 hours like Troy and second, I have so much stuff to bring and buy while I'm there that I need the room in the back of the truck.  Also sometimes I will have 4 guys riding with me while we caravan from Michigan to Carlisle.   I do drive to the Mopar Nationals just about every year and that is 4 hours one way.  :scratchchin:  I bet the car would make it to Carlisle but the cost in gas would be high . .  :o
Tomorrow is promised to NOBODY . . . .

I drive to Chryslers @ Carlisle every year but it's only about 40 minutes from my house. I also went to their 1st Fall Cruise- in last year. It was a good time. Spring and Fall Carlisle are swap meets. Last year for fall they had a small cruise- in on Sunday.  :2thumbs:

I am going to Carslise for the first time this year, but still undecided if I am taking a car, what car I am taking, or rather to drive the car or trailor it behind the pickup?  If I buy any parts,(and I always buy parts) I would need the back of the pick up.  Trailoring a car would use more gas than driving (unless I drove the 73) I figure it would be about a 22 hour trip both ways and the car making the trip trouble free and parking in motel lots all worry me.  I am still not sure what to do?

I'm going for the first time as well. Can't wait, and I'm going to drive the Charger the 7 hours there. I'm going with my friend who has a C500, he's going to trailer his. I might have to let him get ahead of me so I can have some fun   :icon_smile_big: catching up.
I used to own a mopar because it was different, but now I know better.

I'm a bit confused here, I thought you were in the St. Louis area, which would be approximately 4 hours longer than my drive was from Indy. Even driving at a speed of 60 I made it to Carlilse in 11.5 hours. If I got any faster than 62 the mpg really went in the tank, so I kept it hovering between 60-62 pretty solid for the 11.5 hours not including the 4 stops for gas each way.

Life isn't Father Knows Best anymore, it's a kick in the face on a saturday night with a steel toed grip kodiak work boot and a trip to the hospital all bloodied and bashed.....for reconstructive surgery. But, what doesn't kill us, makes us stronger, right?

Nacho-RT74

oh, I think I will miss to go to Carlisle this year:
http://www.dodgecharger.com/forum/index.php/topic,46024.0.html

lot of things to do up there to have fun with boards members, more than last year when I was more focused on hunting parts. I couldn't enjoy all the parties/shows/events and of course ppl.

hmmmm    Mapquest states it is 2747miles and will take me 40 hours and 54 minutes...      that is a 5494 miles round trip...     My charger might get 25mpg on the highway = 220 gallons of fuel...     estimate 1 gal = $2.40...      $2.40 x 220 = $528.00       that's a little too much time and money for me    haha
