Yeah, GM used the black rear for the big block cars.  The early Camaro's and Chevelles.  Ford ruined it around the 80's when the Escort's got black rear ends. :eek2:
This car was sold many years ago to somebody in Wisconsin. I now am retired and living in Florida.

Wow Brock, and Bull thinks I start wierd threads.  I like the way you think though and as tempting as it was to suggest the Model T, I couldn't recall one earlier than the mid-sixties GM cars within the spirit of your question.  I don't think it was limited to Chevelles though, weren't the 66 GS models done like that?

I believe Dodge used it on the rear panel so the GM/Ford guys wouldn't have the suns glare in their eyes when racing a charger.  :rofl:
