Are AMC's now Mopars by default?

No, the muscle AMC products were a different company and they don't count

I was looking at a 69 Javelin the other day (not to buy, just saw it sitting in a driveway and stopped to look) and it made me wonder where they fit in today.  The Nats always has a section for them but are they really a part of the classic Mopar era that we tend to worship?

They are classified as Mopars BUT I will always see them as AMCs. However, I have no problems seeing them at Mopar shows :yesnod:

I'd put them in the red-headed stepchild category for sure but they're still invited to the reunions.

WingCharger

They are a cousin I guess, but where else they gonna go? :shruggy:
I guess we kinda "adopted" them. :icon_smile_big:

I love AMC's myself. :yesnod:

Ghoste

I wonder how classic AMC owners feel about the "adoption"?

I get a kick out of AMC's, in fact I've owned and driven one for 20 years now. I think its nice that Mopar people have welcomed AMC's to their shows and events, but I don't really see them as being full blooded Mopars so to speak.
With that said I still keep my eyes peeled for a good solid Gremlin, they're a hoot!  And I think a Pacer done up right would make an awesome sleeper. :Twocents:

Ghoste

I thought it had come up before Brock but I did a search and turned up nothing so I figured I was having memory dyslexia again.

Back in the day, AMC company research guys would make "skunkwerks" cars with 426 HEMI's installed in them... :scratchchin: :scratchchin:

Who can't love the Rebel Machine? :D

About ten years ago at KCIR, (Kansas City (MO) International...) a big older cat raced two Gremlins with mid-mounted BB Chebbies in em. They were hard to beat.

After you stuff a Hemi inside of a Pacer where are you going to put someone to drive the fool thing?

More like realist  :smilielol:, there is only enough room inside one of those turds for a Hemi or a driver, one of them has to go on the roof.

I would consider the AMX, Javeline, Marlin and Ramblers more Mopar than the 80's Mitsubishi crap Chrysler put out :Twocents:

NOT MOPAR!!!!!  But cool.
Here is a hot Gremlin

John_Kunkel

I agree with 41husk , there's a lot of vehicles carrying the pure Chrysler Corp. banner that are a bigger embarassment then AMC.
Pardon me but my karma just ran over your dogma.
