Not a Charger, but it is an original 69 Bee  :yesnod:
The car has sat in this very spot on an old back road unnoticed for the last 18 years... Talked to the present owner... It was his grandfathers car and he passed away in 91... since the grandson (present owner by inheritance) had no interest in the car, it has sat there ever since. He just wants it out of the yard. Exterior is a little rough from sitting out in the elements all these years, but the undercarriage looks to be tip top. Popped the hood for the first time in 18 years and everything was nice and clean under there. It's also a center console auto as well... fairly rare. This is my friends lifelong dream car so we will be making him an offer tomorrow. We'll be more than happy to get that thing out of your yard for you...

Ghoste

Here's to your friend getting his dream car and another old Mopar getting back on the road.

Very cool find, especially for the cheap from what you're saying!  I love the look of the 69 Bee's, I think it is the best year.

What engine does it have, 383?  440?  Hemi?!?!?!

Just a guess here but I'd say 383. I don't see any HEMI badges, and its not a M code car so that rules out the 440.

Musicman

The color is.. or was at one time at least, "Bahama Yellow"
The block is a 383 4bbl I think, but haven't checked...( they came with the 383, Hemi, or 440 6-pack) My friend looked at the VIN real quick (hard to see until we clean it) and said the car was VIN coded for a 383, but the 383 will be going into storage, and a 440 6-Pack will take it's place.  :2thumbs:

Does it have the buldge hood or the frest air (scooped) hood? I can't tell from the photo.

That's right around the corner from me.  You must have been the guy I talked to at the car show Sat with my Coronet R/T and told you where it was. You didn't waste no time.  Hmmmm maybe should've kept quiet but anyway good luck. Another Southern car going North  :'(. lol.   That car has been a topic of conversation for years around here for those that remembered it's existence.  It's off the beaten path so most didn't know where it was.  Look me up when your out again.  Just don't ask me where anymore cars are  :D

Yup, that was me and my buddy at the show. We were out and about most of the afternoon that day. On the way home my friend remembered what you said about an old Bee out there near our place, so we decided what the heck, we'll take the back roads back and see if we can see it out there. If we hadn't caught that quick glimpse of something faded yellow through the break in the trees, we never would have seen or found it.
I don't need to tell you the current condition of that poor old Bee, and it hasn't gotten any better with age. We went back yesterday to make a closer inspection and to talk to the owner about getting it out of there. Only a truly dedicated individual would even consider taking on this project. The floor boards are all shot because they had carpet on top of carpet, on top of carpet, on top of carpet, etc…. Same thing in the trunk… The roof is full of holes where the vinyl has cracked open sitting in the sun, etc…
Any rational person would strip off the goodies for future use and hall the rest of it to the junk yard while it’s still in one piece. This is my friends life long dream car however, so if there is anyway to save it he’ll give it a shot. An offer was made to the owner, but apparently he has a number of brothers and sisters who have to agree before any type of deal can be struck, so we’ll see what happens.

We'll be checking the Saturday papers in the future, so we'll be seeing you around I'm sure

oldcarnut

Yep that's what I remember about it.  I thnk there wasn't a body panel on it that didn't have rust on it back then.  That's what I was saying about him working at the paper mill and having all the fallout from the air always getting on the car.  Everyone that worked there had rusty cars.  I was told they installed a drive through car wash to use for the employees when they left work everyday. I remember when Mr Walker was alive and driving it.  He was a nice old man that used to love talking about his Bee.  I had my 69 Bee at the same time.  When I had asked about the car I got the same probate story.  The guy I talked to was inexpensive but some of the others had been watching too much Barrett Jackson.  There were things that was different from the Bees that I saw.  LIke you said about the console but I think the door panels were different, dealer underdash installed A/C, and blue paint motor.  Just kinda plusher look about it.  I thought the old man had said he bought it new so it may be all numbers matching.  Last time I saw him he I thought he said he getting the power steering worked on but that was shortly before he died.

First off, thank you oldcarnut! You crucial to getting a car and a dreamer together. MUCH appreciated!

And now, the rest of the story...

Local stories had us believing the car was a brow-beaten 383 car that spent the first 20 years of its life driven daily to the owner's place of work at a paper mill where the caustic emissions rotted the car to what you see, and the last 20 years sitting in the yard we found it in.

Everything but the 383 legend appear to be quite true. However, a looking over the fender tag, you'll notice something quite special about the car:

That's right, it was originally a 440 Six Pack car! My heart jumped right into my throat when I saw that. More investigation was undertaken (notably by my buddy Dave up in PA) to make sure that it was no error, and everything confirms that it is a bonified, WM21M9 Six Pack Super Bee.

As quickly and delicately as possible, a deal was struck with the seller. This evening, the car departed its resting place of the last 20 years on the first leg of its trip up north where it will get the love and attention required to reverse the last 40 years of abuse and leglect.

Sadly, the original drive train parts are not in the car. It appears to have a 400/727 under the hood, and certainly has an 8 3/4 rear end. The proper (if not matching number) drive train will be installed, including the 4.10 Dana rear end, with everything else properly restored to showroom new condition.

The good news is that of the 153 Six Pack Super Bees produced in '69, only 5 or 6 came in Butterscotch. Of those, THIS car is the only one known to have the Delux interior with buckets and console.

The car & I before it departed on its journey this evening:

And now you know the rest of the story...

David,
Nope, no flipper here. That car will go to my kids when I expire. Replied to your email, thanks for that! We'll be up north until next week, but after that I'll buy you a steak whenever we can make it happen.

A12 or 383, either way an excellent find! I recently came close to possibly buying an A12 Bee but it fell through.  It was really rough so I guess it was for the better. I've only had the chance to buy one other 6-pack car, a 70 Charger R/T, but it was an unrealistic rust bucket so I passed, probably shouldn't have. Glad you saved this one!

Just a little follow up.  Darren bought me a steak dinner.  Turned out to be a nice guy and I was glad I met him and enjoyed the conversations.  He also bought a few parts from me for the project and over it all I felt like I had made a new friend in the hobby.  cheers and Thanks for the dinner .  In the pic is me on the left and Darren on right.

David,
Thanks much for your kind words. I too am very glad to have met you, and happy to have made a new friend. We'll have to grab another steak or two (or three... :icon_smile_big:) when I get back down there. Not exactly sure when, but almost certain the dock will still be there in SC when my rotation is over - at least for a little while. Hopefully long enough to massage those RR quarters back into shape. ;)

All,
Thanks for all the kind words and encouragement! David hooked me up with several odds & ends for the Bee project. So, not only was he instrumental in getting the car, but in getting stuff needed for the car as well. :2thumbs: #1 in my book.
