My brother-in-law is jealous of all of the attention that his sister is getting with her newly winged runner and he has decided that he wants me to add a sb wing to the 69 runner that I'm building for him. It's a black on black car with a 440-6 and six pack hood and just might look pretty sinister with a wing out back. This car was a 383 4-speed car to begin with, but the original driveline is long gone. He just wants a toy built to his specs. It will also have leather interior, modern a/c and pistol grip shifter.
So now we need another wing.

Hey, I even put magnum 500's on my mopars and they never came with magnum 500's. I just think they look good.
Don't forget, Chrysler put the Superbird wing on a 69 Road Runner first. The 70 Road Runner came second. So, maybe the 70 is a clone of the 69.  :D

Don Currie built my steel wing for my 69 Runner, but it was very difficult to build and I don't think he wants to build another one...not at the price that he did that one for anyway. I have a real Superbird wing, but it's being saved for the wife's Superbird clone. I was impressed with the Janak fiberglass Daytona wing that I had for my clone before I bought the hollow aluminum one from Dane. So if all else fails, I may just order a fiberglass one from Ted. I haven't checked with Mike Goyette to see if he still build wings.

I'll slap a wing on just about anything. Heck, I just cut up a triple black RT/SE Charger to build my daytona clone. That's all 69 Chargers are good for anyway.  :icon_smile_big:

These warm 80 degree days are making me feel a lot better. It's nice working with the shop doors open and not breathing bondo dust and primer all day long. I think I'm gettin dain bramage.  :yesnod:

Oh, and now I know how you feel when you drive your convert. We drove the wingrunner to the mexican eatin joint tonight and we heard people talking about the "Superbird" out in the parking lot. I love cheap thrills.

Yes, he's the guy that made my steel wing a couple of years ago.

Sandra and I have had a lot of fun driving around in the wingrunner the last few days. Kind of puts me in a better mood. A good wife, warm days and a strange looking mopar with a huge wing on the back...what more could you ask for?  :boogie:

Only a little off the current trend of this post - I will have a wing for sale soon. I own a Janak wing now, and the car project I am purchasing already has a wing on it, so I will be in the market to sell one of the wings in a few weeks. (don't have the "project car" in hand yet)

Hey, I even put magnum 500's on my mopars and they never came with magnum 500's.

What are the chrome wheels they put on the '67-'68 mopars? I know the wheels with the trim rings in '69 are called road wheels but I always thought the earlier chrome wheels were magnums.  :shruggy:

oldcarnut

I think your right about the chrome wheels but I mostly saw the emblems on Fords with the 15's.  These are 15 X 8's on my 69 with spinners that they didn't come with.

hotrod98

They offered 14" chrome 500's up until 67. I have a nice set on one of my car trailers. As far as I know, they never offered a chrome 15" magnum 500 on a mopar. It's actually a Ford wheel.

Scott, keep me posted on that wing. I'm interested.

Thank's and yep it's mine.  It's actually T5.  I wasn't too fond of it at first but then everyone around here had a color that everyone else had so it grew on me and was something different at the local shows.  I really like it now. Has a lot of metallic in it and glistens nice in the sunlight.  I painted around 2001 right before that color variation started appearing on newer cars.

I like the spinners. I first saw them on a Daytona SE. Been thinking about putting a set on my Daytona clone if I don't use my Boyds.

I like the spinners on your Magnum 500's.

I'd like to put a set of those on my Daytona clone.

Any trouble getting to the lug nuts with a lug wrench with the spinners on?

I had a guy tell me this was a problem with the spinners.

He was selling Mag 500's and spinners and warned me of this.

Are those 15X8's on the front of your car? If so, what's the backspacing?

Thanks. It can be a little tricky.  I sorta split the difference as best I can with the spinners arms to the lug nuts.   I either will use a socket with a small dia extension or a lug wrench similar.  I also have the spinners just tight enough to hold firm but where with a little force can rotate by hand just enough if things are tight.  Other than that I haven't had any problems.  I'll have to check the back space for ya.  I picked up the spinners at the Autofair but the rims came with the car when I got it way back but they are 15 X 8 repops.  back at ya.

Good info on the spinners :2thumbs:

I've heard of some guys having interference problems with the upper control arm/ upper ball joint area with 15X8's on the fronts of 68-70 B-bodies.

I'll be buying my wheels in the next few months, and would like to go 15x8's all around.

Info from guys like you who have them on their cars will really help me choose the right wheels. :2thumbs:

I had my shop doors open today too and blew my shop out and blew all seams and holes for an hour trying to get all of the media blasting sand and dust out of my car as I will be priming soon. My reality is a little different than yours so I thought I would share. This is looking out my second shop! It was 28 below last week!

I guess home is where the heart is. The south isn't perfect by any means. Gets extremely hot here for a few weeks a year. But it's only extrmely cold (20 degrees or lower) for just a few weeks as well. So I guess it all equals out. We did get almost two inches of snow here this year. Was gone the next day though.
