Hi, I have a 383 .30 over 10 to 1 compression, 495 lift cam, 268 duration, its in a 69 charger with a 727 w/ shift kit. I havent decided on the suregrip gear yet. I'm leaning towards a 3:91.Just thought I'd get some ideas for the convertor and also the flex plate. My 727 is in the shop now, I might actually get to start this thing this year! :o

if you do a search for a converter more than likely you would find that people recommend the following places: PTC, Turbo Action, Dynamic, ATI, Cope/CRT.  PTC and Turbo Action come highly recommended in what I have been reading and asking around for but you need to know what gears you'll be running too  :coolgleamA:  So when you do call them up they can set you up.  :Twocents:

terrible one

Sounds really close to my combo.

I've got a 383 at about 9.2:1 494 lift with a 727 and 3.55 suregrip. I called Cope Racing Trans and he spec'd me a 2600 stall PTC. Haven't gotten it all together yet but you should probably aim somewhere around there.

Your combo does sound pretty close.I dont have much of a clue as far as 10 inch or 11 etc..anyone have some insight? :shruggy:

The turbo action 11in hemi converter would be a good choice with that combo  :2thumbs:

Also how much difference is there between this and the stock convertor? Its a original 383 2bbl car. Is this the difference worth the money? Thanks again.

I recommended one for Kam Cuda....he has it in his 70 Cuda with a 408 stroker. Lots of tire boiling fun !  :icon_smile_cool:

Big difference from a stock 383 2bbl converter. Probably in the area of 1000rpm in stall speed. Definately a better match for your current engine combination.  :yesnod:

Thanks Ron, is this the site your talking about?  http://www.compu-flow.com/TurboAction.htm   Just trying to spend my money the right way, unlike some of the things I've done in the past. I still need to make up my mind on rocker arms, hoping I dont need rollers. Also my underdash wiring has some wires butt connected and I'm looking at the year one harness. There goes my budget for the year! Hoping I can maybe hear the car run this year. I'll feel like I'm making some progress!

Several vendors sell turbo action...the one you listed is fine. You also need a matching flexplate and larger 7/16in converter bolts. 440 source has the flexplate and Summit will have the converter bolts.

Unless your cam is a solid flat tappet or roller you won't need roller rocker arms....the stock HD rockers from Mancini are fine. I just installed the year one harness....it's a work of art.  :2thumbs:

What cam are you running ?

I have to look it up but off the top of my head its 495 lift 268 duration I believe.Any better vendors for that covertor that you know, I do need the flex plate and bolts as well.I hope year one has a good discount out..I think it was like 500.00 for the underdash harness but its better than a fireball.

Hydraulic cam ? If so, just use the HD stamped rockers and some good pushrods....no need for adjustable rockers, inmo.

That link you posted above has excellent pricing on the T/A converter....Mancini lists the same converter for $80 more.  :P
