70 no? It looks to be the same car, I guess this one has a 350 in it though. I saw a video the owner of the last one had, and it was a 440, supposedly.

I read that. Look at the end of the article. It says they are all small block Chevy powered unfortunantly. :'(

chargerkid01

The designated closeup-shot Charger has a real blown 528 Hemi this time.

It's just the 2nd-unit stunt cars that got crate motor chevys.  Interchangeability on the set issues.

bk72

i want to see it.......... :icon_smile_cool:

Yeah, that's true. The 528 never turned over though. :icon_smile_blackeye: It wasn't completed in time for filming. :brickwall:

Mike DC

They might still just drop in an insert shot of a blown Hemi from somewhere though.

I'd be surprised if they crack open the hood of that Charger in the final cut of the movie and there's not a real blown 426-based Hemi motor on display.  Universal didn't appreciate the impact/status of that car in 2000 but they sure do now.

Still worth seeing I'm sure.   :popcrn:
Tomorrow is promised to NOBODY . . . .

This talk reminds me, what happened to the members building replicas who joined the original site after the first movie? Black and Blown was one I remember, and then there was a younger kid building a replica as well. Where are all these guys?

15 years ago nobody seemed to think the General Lee had made much of an impact on the Charger hobby either.

nowadays people hav so many general remakes they could turn a stadium floor orange :coolgleamA:

The number of home-built GL replicas worldwide already adds up to at least 2x the number that Warner Bros has ever killed.  Maybe even 3-4x as many depending on which numbers you believe about the TV series & the current replicas.

Ghoste

So you're estimating there may be as many as 600-700?

If you count all the GL replicas in the world, including the ones that are not running (but already have GL paint or something), and the ones that are unfinished (but are well on their way to being finished within the foreseeable future) . . . then I'd be really surprised if it was less than 400 or 500 orange cars.

For every one car at "Dukesfest" there are several more out there that don't show.  Same is true with any other type of classic car for the most part.

And the true number of cars wrecked during the TV series is very much open to debate.  The Valuzets are responsible for the lion's share of the total   numbers, and in season #4 they got caught selling a bunch of re-fixed Chargers back to WB with swapped VINs.

have u checked out their site? its pretty rad...the little driving game is cool 2...u can drive the charger :yesnod:

BLUE68RT4ME

As for the comments about those who came and went after the other movies,  I say so what?   :shruggy:  Things happen, LIFE happens, people get pulled in different directions, at least these cars still stir people enough to cause them seek more information about them and find things like this site.  Maybe they left this site with more hopes and dreams of owning one someday, or maybe it will have left enough impact on them that if some politician wants to start crushing all our cars again we'll have their vote in stopping it from happening.  I mean no disrespect to anyone that's been on here a long time, I by no means plan to leave this place behind, but you will always have those who come and go and that's just the way it is.  Let's just be happy that this car continues to be the car that eclipses all others in the realm of muscle cars, throughout every generation.   :2thumbs:
