I originally wrote that it wasn't possible (probable?) but, after some research, it appears that the standard transmission for a 383 R/T was the 3-speed. I don't recall ever seeing one nor did I know they existed.

I recall seeing one years ago that Chuck Pierce had for sale.... saw it a year later, and the new owner had changed it to a 4-speed. Was a black w/red interior car, if I recall correctly.

Aproximately 355 1970 Challenger R/Ts with the 383 3-speed combination were sold in the US.

Canadian & export totals are not known.

Sounds like you lumped in non R/T's according to my numbers. Nonetheless, I will re-check tonight.

:popcrn:

OK - I checked. Conflicting info from Groovy.

Pocket book says 355 like you wrote.
Options and accessories report only show 14 like I said earlier. Hmmmmm

72charger440

well i found out that the 3spd in the challenger is atually out of a convertable 70 challenger r/t with a 383 not a hardtop version

Email me with the VIN on the car as well as the one on the 3-speed & I can check my files & see if I know of any matches on either car for you.
