Ran across this auction, and the seller said these are 2pc, and the later markers were 4 pc. Anyone here know anything about this? Know the switch over date?

YOU ARE BIDDING ON FOUR ORIGINAL LENSES FOR EARLY PRODUCTION CARS. ON THE FRONT OF THE RED ONES IS 69C AND ON THE BACK IS 2930958/ 2930960.  ON THE FRONT OF THE YELLOW ONES IS 69C AND ON THE BACK IS 2930746/ 2930744.  ONE YELLOW ONE IS MISSING THE TAPE.  THEY DO HAVE SOME SLIGHT SCRATCHES FROM NOT BEING BOXED.  THIS IS A TWO SIDED REFLECTOR.

Looking at the Lightningjar part # site
http://lightningjar.com/decoders/partnumbers/index.php
and plugging in those #'s a bunch of different cars come up....IIRC the lenses should be the same its just the backings that might have been different or categorized differently for different car lines(hence the 2 different #'s on the backing part)

FWIW I think the repros are spot on

Yes, there are two front reflector lenses for all '69 A bodies, Dodge B bodies and Dodge C bodies
2930 744 up to about January and 2930 960 after January.

I think the repops are the 960 lens.

The difference  :shruggy:

One of my Daytona's has the "2 piece" and the Canadian shipped one has the "4 piece", They are not actually pieces but appear to be for the sake of a better term. Lets call it 4 section and 2 section. Not sure if it was an early/late thing or a US/Canada thing.

Here is the 4 section

I have encountered the different lens housings.  They look similar but the depths are different.  I have a photo of the two of them side-by-side, using a pencil (rather than a measuring tape) showing the different depths.

Both of my cars are early production, Oct and Nov '68, so I'd like to get the correct ones if at all possible/affordable.

So, from the previous posts,  the repros are the later production pieces? And those are the 4 section ones correct?

Well - Like I said earlier, my earlier US bound Daytona has the 2 section and my later built for Canada has the 4 section. Obviously both were built after January and both are different. I will check my A12's (later 69 - One US bound, one Canada bound) and my early '69 (built Oct 68) GTX. The GTX was Canada bound as well so that may tell me something. Hemigeno noticed the marker difference when he was visiting. I have some (old) NOS markers too - I'll check those as well. The only reason I keep bring up US vs Canada is that Transport Canada may have had different standards for this stuff at the time....kinda like the daytime running lights up here.

I have seen those as well Mike... :yesnod:

All this talk of 4 section & 2 section lenses...now I have to get out there & look at mine.....although IIRC (for you Rob) I have a set of the early cheapo repro's that didnt have the plastic tabs on the back....just a flat plastic piece that you have to use double sided tape to hold it into the housing....the lense itself had the same marking as the originals though

Mike,

I think the one on the left side (deeper of the two) was for C bodys but I could be wrong.
