There is a guy on moparts that has one I believe.  Also a 72 RR 440-6 car on there.  Very early production cars from the information they gathered.  There was a really long post on there about it.

Interestingly enough, I don't see a name on the article.

The car is Top Bananna with white vinyl top, E6XW interior, atuomatic. It's also a Y28 executive lease car. As stated by the OP, it's a real low '72 VIN buit at STL. The window sticker is pictured in the article. The car was owned by Mike Schenk Sr. and now owned by his son, Mike Jr. The car ls a legit '72 six pack car but needs restored.

There always seems to be a bit of a mystery as to the 72 6bbls. Factory info shows they were to be built and examples are known to exist. They are all very low VIN numbers. Here's the best info I've seen on why they were not produced in numbers. There is an undated update to the 72 Dodge data book. The cover page referrs to wage and price freeze enacted on August 15, 1972, right after begining of the '72 production year, and other notation in the update show all the changes to the 72 models so Chrysler Corp could comply with the wage and price freezes.

It seems as if the 440-6bbl was caught by wage and price freeze and dropped after planned and initial production began.

As stated, there were 2 of each (2 rallye's and 2 RR's) not surprised to hear it was found in Michigan a friend of mine told me about it along time ago and he's from out that way. One is supposed to be very rusty and possibly not restorable the other, the guy know's what he has and will "never sell" dont know any details on the RR. But i believe (i could be wrong) all 4 cars were auto's or was that both charger's? cant recall.  :Twocents:

Didn't Ron Slobe at R+R salvage have one of each of these rare V code cars?

Yes, Ron  Slobe did in fact have one of the 440-6 chargers, i do not know if it was kept in the family or sold after his passing!

General_01

I think the car did not have the Ralleye doors or a bulge hood. The article writer was able to track one of the guys that drove it as an executive lease car. He said it was because he wedged it between a couple poles so it was fixed at the plant with parts they had sitting their. Thus the regular doors and flat hood.

High Impact

I was told of a Road Runner with a Six-pack sitting out in the woods here in Northern Michigan.  It took a year of searching and this is what I found

High Impact

Under hood!!!!!!!!!!!    Imagine what I was thinking :o

High Impact

I was shaking so bad I could hardly hold the camara :drool5:

High Impact

But,  it wasnt what I thought.

Just a 72 Road Runner/ GTX   440-4speed Dana 60 car. (one owner with window sticker and everything!   Pretty sweet but a typical rusty michigan car.  (I hate living here!)

It seems someone installed a 69 A-12 intake and carbs on it right after he bought it and raced it at MOTOR CITY dragway.  Then bought a place up here deep in the woods and left the car for dead!!    :shruggy:   Been sitting since 1981!

High Impact

Now its cleaned up and shelved until I figure out what to do with it.

I had mice running around like crazy!   I think there all gone now :eek2:

I was surprized to find that the motor turns,  I expected to find it locked up, who knows it might even run!

Thats it,  just thought Id share what I thought was one of the missing 6-pack cars.
