I treat my license plates like my SS card in regards to pics on the internet. They don't mean much to the average person but theres quite a bit of info those plates.

I agree, if the plates are on the car, then they are viewable by all.

However I do not agree that Magnumcharger should have posted the link to that album, as it contains images that I wouldnt want broadcast all over the web.
It is also the responsibilty of the owner to better protect their identity.

If Kenny is viewing this thread, id like to hear his opinion, as we dont want to lose a member and friend, over something like this.

Magnumcharger

Ok...link removed... ::)

You'd better PM him...and tell him to clean up his act.

Like I said they are just numbers and letters to most people but it's not something I myself throw around lightly. I always black out the license plate in pictures while I wear my tinfoil hat. Just my  :Twocents: Call me a douche bag if ya like, won't hurt my feelings.  :2thumbs:

KWS

Magnumcharger, I'm not sure what part of "my act I need to clean up", but everything has been taken care of. I had no idea that those photobucket accounts are set to "public" by default. I also wouldn't be sharing someone else's other personal photos on the internet if I had accidentally run across them, but I have learned that in my position I can't seem to expect the same consideration from people. Some just can't seem to help themselves.

Everything has been deleted and the proper security settings have been adjusted. I only had a few personal pics on there anyway, nothing major or exciting, just something for my family back home in Louisiana to be able to log in and see.

My license plates, on the other hand are a different story. None of them are registered to me or my home address. They are all company cars with a company address and they are not EVER stored at that address. We do this for many reasons, one of them being security. Therefore I don't really worry about that issue. Also I figured out a long time ago that plenty of people take pics of my cars and post them on the internet with my plates in full view, so the only way to eliminate that from ever happening would be to drive around constantly without a plate on my cars and we all know I can't do that.

As far as the car being available for rent, it's not for joyrides or pleasure, it's for movies or TV, that's all.

Thanks again for the heads up, 451-74Charger.

Oh, and buy the way, here's a pic from SEMA. Notice the plate? You should have noticed this pic when you were looking through my album, right?

defiance

I don't think there was any harm or insult intended; I think this was just a matter of people worrying that this site was making false claims based on your images.  From what you said the site is legit, so we can stop worrying about it :D

KWS

That site is the company that helped me build the car, so they are legit.

We were just making sure. We've seen many members get screwed over by people trying to sell their car using their pictures. ;)

Is this guy on some soap opera or something? Totally confused. Seriously though...what can you do with someone's license plate number? I mean they have to be displayed when you drive the car.

So, does this mean I won't be able to rent it for a weekend, and tear around town? :(
Never underestimate the power of stupid people in large groups.  Especially if they have access to the internet.

As a police officer, I can tell you there is alot of info from the plates, if someone can access it.  In my state I can get your name and address of course, but also your SS#, which I can then run and get you license info.  Now this helps me out in my job, but if I was a criminal the SS# number would what I would want.  The addresses change regularly, and I challenge you to find a license plate with the right address or even name on it.  Most people sell the car, and the plate goes to, not knowing that is totally illegal in my state.  So yes, with the right connections, there is alot of info from the car's plates.  I personally don't worry about it on the net, but then again I don't have a tin foil hat, and I don't think everyone is out to get me either.
