Its a legit car that is for sure. And it is one of only 5 500's that I've seen that doesn't have XX anywhere on the car as well, and like the other 4 it doesn't have A11 on the fender tag anywhere either. Only thing it has going for it to confirm it is the 925#

Car is a legit R6 red C500 though. Troy to answer another question you had about XX and XS on the fender tags. All 500's built before November 14th have XS on the fender tag's. Oddly enough of the 5 500's I've seen with XS on the dash, there are only 2 of them that are built after November 14th, and they aren't in a batch of any sort. They are seperated by quite a bit of time. Seems to have just been a fluke. Of those there is 1 that is a HEMI car, which is the B5 blue HEMI 500 that is currently for sale in the for sale section of this site. Very nice car by the way.

Side note here, but Rick, are you sure on the 925#? I was thinking it was 925419 not 925919 which is what the hand writing appears to read? 419 would make more sense as 919 would be higher by 200+ digits than any other known 500 and 419 fits right into line with the cars that are around it.

I also noticed the big yellow "NO" on top of the drivers side tail lights. mark up another one with the word "NO" that doesn't have the A01 light package. Makes 9 that say "NO" and 3 that say "YES". All 3 that say "YES" have the A01 package.

I was hoping you'd catch that Danny

Curious that this one still has the vacuum lines intact for the headlight doors...was this an XS thing?
Chris' '69 Charger R/T

69_500

Not really, my car has the entire vacuum lines as well. My hoses still go up and over the radiator core support, and nearly drag on the ground underneath the car. I believe that Jerry N said his hoses were all of the way up and over his radiator core support as well, until he cut them off back in the 70's or 80's.

69_500

Jude another side note but just so you know the car Rick has isn't the same color red as the HEMI 500 your listed a photo of. The one shown in the photo is an R4 car.

pettybird

isn't there a lot of red paint under the package tray?  I didn't think the line workers tried that hard?  is there more paint on A11 cars, or am I just off?

The vacuum hoses were cut at the end of the harness by the headlamps once the harness was not in tape.

Danny do you know that restored HEMI c500?  It was hard to tell with the dark photos.  I even photoshopped them lighter...

Cool Danny... I saw the 925, but was concerned about the other things........ This is why you're the man to go to....

Yes the restored HEMI C500 is one of Ed Cooks old cars. 238092 R4 red car that was being advertised as an original paint car, but I believe that Ed said it was repainted.

The 500 Ed just sold was R6 though.

What other things were you wondering about the car Troy? I'd love to have the car personally, but when I asked the wife about it a few years back she was more for the other 500 Rick has than the R6 one. Personally I'd take either.

69_500

Here is a nice shot of Ed's R6 car.

Thanks Danny, but nothing of sorts.. I was just noticing the lack of standard coding and questioning it. Wanted to know if this was one of those "oppps" from the factory.. I'm in no market for another C500 unless I sell Dana and the '68 to get a Daytona and well all know how that's going..

XS29J

Why would a 500 that has over 130 known VINS (lower) or before it be an XS car???
Was it pulled from the XS run because of a special order or something like that. This list shows the VIN as a XX vin but must have been compiled without really seeing the ACTUAL vin of the car.

talkiemopar

Danny  The tag was real rusty when i coppied numbers.I think you right about the 419 if it fits in with the other cars around it :scratchchin:   The bronze 500 [238099] also has a NO on the tail light housing :blahblah: :blahblah:  Rick

69_500

Thanks for the insight on the other 500 you have Rick. I didn't know if it had anything written on the tail light housing or not.

Don't you still have the original tag in an envelope? And how much of it isn't readable at all?

maxwellwedge

I guess you know to read the back - It is better when dealing with a rusty tag.

I think a push on getting the build sheet would seriously help this auction.

I agree, if it is absolutely still known to exist...

The auction ad says:
Quote
This particular car does not have a fender tag (damaged), and it did have a buildsheet, but from another Charger 500 that was also Red.  The owner of that Charger 500 does have the buildsheet for this car, but she has been slow to retrieve it.  The winning bidder will be given her contact information.

Did the owner of the other C500 say that they had the broadcast sheet for the 236609 car, or just say they had a broadcast sheet for a C500?  With the stories of 6 foot high piles of rear seat cushions at Creative during the conversions, the odds of two cars having each other's seats seems a bit remote, but certainly possible.  If she has it, is she willing to trade?

Also, is the reference to it being a "prototype" based on the "XS" in the VIN?
QuoteThis is a very rare opportunity to own this historical prototype vehicle!  Best of all it is an unmolested original with only a re-paint.  This is truly a restorer's dream.

I think that the term prototype would not apply to the car in question.

As far as I know the sheet that the lady has is for another C500, but has yet to be actually comfirmed that it is to the one that Rick has. All we know is that she has an R6 500, and as far as I know its the one that the sheet that was found in Ricks car goes to, but what sheet she has is still up in the air.

talkiemopar

Danny ,that is right .I have hers .It means both cars were there at the same time

69_500

True they were there at Creative at the same time, but did she ever confirm that the one she had went to your car? I just remember her saying she did have a broadcast sheet to another 500, but didn't recall if it was actually to yours or just assuming it was to yours.
