Just 6T9 CHGR

Module has nothing to do with the timing of the distributor

with the hotter spark and better dwell at higher RPM the motor may benifit from more spark but only a dyno day would show you if your going in the right direction or not for your particular combo

Why is the chrome advertised as race only?  Do they burn up faster?

Ghoste

The chrome is a higher performance one than the orange.  The race only one is gold I believe.  The difference is the dwell they are accurate to, the orange being good to about 6 grand and the chrome 7500 or 8000 as I recall.  The race only piece is supposed to be something like 10k rpm but the other thing is that they are part of a system.  The race only one allows more current to the coil and if you use it with a stock coil, the coil will burn up quicker.

Allows more current to the coil?  I'm not sure I see how this works.  The coil has an impedance that increases with RPM.  Does the chrome or gold ECU output more voltage?  This is the only way the coil can get more current.

Nacho-RT74

yes, because they have more dwell time, what allow to storage more power before trig on to the coil.

Gold box is not for street use.
