Hi like anywhere else, it's a bit dirty up here in the mile high - possibly a bit more because it's just a desert in disguise. My question is, I'm about to take a trip in the van (318/thermoquad) and want to know what's the best carb cleaner to get. I use a certain fuel injection cleaner, but for carbs, I'm not sure. Is STP okay? Will it foul my plugs?

A 'pour in the tank' kind of carb cleaner? I like Seafoam. :2thumbs:

The Aquamax...yes, this bike spent 2 nights underwater one weekend. (Not my doing), but it gained the name, and has since become pseudo-famous. :)

Yes, in the tank. I've never heard of Seafoam...

It's good stuff. Goes for between $7 & $13 at parts stores.

You can also pour it down the carb throat & it works well for cleaning combustion chamber carbon out, by sucking it into the engine through your brake booster vacuum line. Causes a HUGE smoke cloud for a few minutes, when you do the vacuum line thing, but it works well.

BTW, I'm usually the first skeptic in line, when it comes to a "mechanic in a can" remedy, but after much prodding from friends, I've found this stuff works pretty good. I used it on a fuel injected car with a gummed up injector...it cleaned it up & it's still running well.
