Any one have one of these laying around that can do some measuring for me?  Need to "make" some more on the cheap ;)

  • width of the red & blue stripes themselves
  • width between the red & blue stripes
  • distance from the bottom of the filter to the bottom of the red stripe
  • distance from the top of the filter to the top of the blue stripe

TIA

Mine look to have different dimensions than the one pictured but here goes,
Red and blue stripes: 7/16 inch wide
Distance between the two: 29/32 inch
Distance from bottom to red: 1 1/16 inches
Distance from top (of filter side) to blue stripe: 2 5/16 inches

Chris, I have the high performance version of that which has a checkered flag on it.  Would you want measurements from that?

Why not take the easy road and spray it gold.
I read somewhere that's what color the assembly line ones are.

If I remember correctly, the factory oil filters were a greenish yellow color.

I always thought it was the rough textured green ones....

Nah, my car isnt an "assembly line" type of car ;)

I even took the trouble to print out the Mopar & Oil Filter fonts on clear decal paper so the R-W-B ones are for me!

Brian, thanks but ill be using the standard resto one as the template...you believe they want $19 bux for them?

Ill be painting my $5 WIX filters white thank you :rotz:

You know with a texture like that you wouldn't need a filter wrench to grip it.
They're not gold,  green it is. OK

$19 each is cheap compared to the $35 AC filter ones for our el camino.  I basically did the same route as you, had a friend make up a bucnh of decals that resemeble the original markings and will be painting the filters white then applying the decal.

Can't go wrong with a WIX.

Why go with the rest of the crowd - be different and label them with a pre-1973 version of the parts department filters...
