what is the differences in aftermarket H beam rods cat, 440 source etc?  are they all made off shore by the same co. then worked over in US by whatever co. that's selling them.when looking up aftermarket rods they all seem to be made of same material.just curious. educate me on all this. [440 RB]

They are not necessarily all forged at the same Foundry, then re-worked stateside, therein can lie the pitfalls for many first timers when building a Stroker.

Strokers always require alot of attention to detail & Blueprinting for good results typically, and because of the use of so many aftermarket parts from various suppliers, not everything always "fits" together as expected.

Because different Manu's develop different "Blueprints" for their Rod Forgings independant of each other, the variances are the pitfalls, especially on things like "Bearing Tang" locations, and amount of Chamfer present on the Fillet side, etc.

Nothing wrong with anybodies Individual Rod Forging "per se", just may be a higher degree of attention to detail when Machining/Building for satisfactory results when fitting.

Not saying a first timer can't do adequate job, just alot of education and attention to detail will be required. It's a very steep learning curve.

I'll 2nd that vote, SCAT or Eagle stuff as easiest to fit usually.

SCAT Crank grinds seem better than Eagle though ?

440 source stuff seems fine now with the "N" Brg availability, but, for awhile there I was getting pissed at those guys !
