Being 16 years old, working at a taco shop, coming up with $800 dollars to get petty blue paint.

bigred68

Working 19years for the same company only to get fired then start a new job a month later, only to quit that job a month later, to start another job that pays twice as much as the first job (even AFTER 19 years) only to get layed off after 40 days? But, man I LOVE TACO BELL! What happened to the volcano tacos though? Man, those things rock!

Are we venting here? Okay - I went from making about $3,200/mo down to around $1,200. This won't be forever, though. And I refuse to sell the cars, I just pretend that they don't exist - sort of.

Try being 23, with no college degree, living on your own, trying to afford to restore not just 1, but 2 Mopars.

Didn't work out very well...

How about this!

Selling your 68 Charger to insulate the house you just built while working full time. Then getting divorced and she gets the Challenger ( which was just completed and fresh) . I get the wreck of a Roadrunner. Then 6 months later you get laid off after 11 years. You house sells so you buy a 45 foot trailer and load up all of your tools and parts. Tow it to a friends where it sits for 10 years while you go back to school, star a new career and buy a house with a garage again!

Yes, true story.

But bought a new home three years ago and the Charger back! Just started the restoration 2 months ago! And the wreck of a Roadrunner I have not started yet but it is a V code car and I am extremely happy I kept it. And to finish things off have a new wife who is awesome and hot too!!

See every story has a good ending but sometimes takes longer than we think! Keep your chins up boys!!

dream with a 69 SE TAN INTERIOR FOR YEARS on a country where they weren't assemblied ( just 3rd gens ) and find a guy what I know that FOUND A 69 SE 383 apparently 2BBLS, TODAY, allmost 5 block FROM MY OWN HOME IN JUST around US$1000... needing resto of course, BUT with interior complete, AND EVEN ORIGINAL AM/FM RADIO.

what bother me a lot is he already got one long time ago ( SE too tan interior and also 383 2 bbls), but that piece REALLY needs job.

BOTHER ME EVER MORE... HE WASN'T SEARCHING FOR ANOTHER ONE!!! the owner saw his Charger when he was making some job on it and told him HEY, I HAVE ONE JUST LIKE THAT ONE!!!. 3 DAYS LATER: CLOSED DEAL!!!

( car was abandoned on an elevator kind parking, so imposible to accidentally find it )

How about my buddy who pays 740.00 a week because of his divorce?  She gets child support for the 3 kids but he has to drive 3 hours everyday after work to take one back home with him because the Mom and kid clash, so he doesn't get home until 10pm everday.  He can't earn any overtime (and there's lots out there in our trade) because he has the child.  He's worked over 25 years is the best in our trade and lives in his Moms basement.  Now that sucks!  Oh, and he's a great guy.  The divorce is because she cheated on him (3 times).  :P
This car was sold many years ago to somebody in Wisconsin. I now am retired and living in Florida.

That does suck! Poor guy. I have some friends in similar situations and they are tough to get through! It seems so unjust to have to pay so much while the ex is likely having the time of her life. And they wonder why people at times take the kids and disappear!!

ya well it still sucks. haha some guy i wanted to buy a hood from waned a grand + shipping haha the only thing i have worth that is my spare parts and my car lmfao.

Well when you're 16 you're not supposed to already have your dream job. Everyone in high school has crappy jobs, I worked at a grocery store all through HS making alot less than that. I also worked as a part time plumber with my uncle, nothing against plumbers but that sure as hell ain't for me! When I turned 20 I finally got a job that got me started on my career path but the pay sure isn't that great. Im almost 23 and still don't have even a charger project, been waiting since I was 8. Cash is too tight as it is to toss another wrench in the works (Like the majority of everyone else). Hang in there, all good things are worth waiting for. Don't get frustrated by what you have (or don't have) because it isn't going to help. Start looking around for different jobs and you might get lucky, just be patient.

I used to be in the same situation Cody. I then started working three jobs. A day job full time Mon-Fri. Doing bodywork in the evening for cash with a friend and a gas station job on the weekends. I did this until I was 23. I was able to buy my first house when I was 20 and it also paid for my drag racing. Something to consider. I know we are in a bit of a recession and do not know what it is like down there but here if a person really wants to work they can still find a job. Albeit not a great one but a job nevertheless.

You think you hate your job now?  Wait until you have a wife, kids, a mortgage and the stunning realization each morning that you have no choice- you MUST go do it.

Amen.
Cody I'm sorry but I think your missing the point. Please understand, I (WE here at dc.com) are very happy to see a young person interested in a hobby such as cars or in this case Mopars as we all are. Mopar is something that allot of us grew up with and is a "thing" that is very near and dear to our hearts. I think I could speak for everyone here when I say "welcome" to something that many of us truly love. The point being missed is Cody, your a young adult, be a young adult. Savor each and every minute of it. THIS TIME NOW IS THE BEST TIME OF YOUR LIFE!!! Please realize this now and have fun with it. Save the money you can to work on your car. Spend the money you can for your car your anything you'd like. PLAY!! HAVE FUN!! NOW!! While your young!! (and still can). Play with the cars. Get an education. Maybe college, maybe Tech. school. PICK A TRADE!! Learn a craft. Machinist, Carpenter, Plumber, Electrician, Micro Biologist,Autobody, automechanic, SOMETHING!! Something that you learn to do with your hands, eyes and brain can NEVER be taken from you and, if you learn a trade well enough and can earn money at it you'll be rewarded in being able to show some other new young person YOUR trade. Have fun. LEARN. PLAY WITH THE GIRLS!! (wrap that rascal, no need to complicate things till your ready).
THE WORLD IS YOUR OYSTER!!
Enjoy it Cody.
J.J.

Then why are you whining about it? Learn enough to get a better job and get the heck out of there! If you can't afford what you want then either your expectations are too high or you're not putting forth enough effort. If you were 20-30 years older it would be sad but you're still young and have a whole world full of opportunity in front of you. Don't start feeling sorry for yourself already - do something to improve your situation!
