2010 Dodge Heavy-Duty Trucks are out

Just received an email from Dodge touting the redesigned HD line of trucks.  They're essentially a HD version of the 2009 half-ton bodystyle, but they were a year behind in retooling the 3/4ton and up series.

I'm probably going to keep my 2007 1-ton daily driver around for a while, as it's hardly broke in - but I'd have been torqued off if I'd have just purchased a 2009 and then found out these were being introduced.  Nice looking rigs, and a 180,000 mile warranty on that AISIN 6-speed automatic transmission is nothing to sneeze at (I think those are only available on the cab-n-chassis).

They are nice.  :drool5: IMO, the front bumper is nicer/cleaner than the 1/2 ton.

I like the idea of a 52 gallon fuel tank too. Makes for some nice trips without all of the stops.

I think these look better than the current Chebbys & my jury is still out on the looks of the current Fords. I liked the older design Fords just fine, so this Dodge looks better to me than the others.

:Twocents:

The Aquamax...yes, this bike spent 2 nights underwater one weekend. (Not my doing), but it gained the name, and has since become pseudo-famous. :)

I agree, these heavy trucks look wayyyy better than Ford and Chev.  They look pretty darn good.

I was reading on the allpar.com writeup that the cab-and-chassis emissions particulate system has been changed over from the Bluetec system to a "diesel exhaust fluid (DEF) injection based on urea injection Selective Catalyst Reduction (SCR) technology."  Wonder if they're just trying that out for a while before incorporating it into the pickups?

If they get the bugs worked out of that, it'd be something I'll look into.  My 6.7 has only been in the shop once for cleaning out the particulate filter, etc. - but there are a ton of people who have had very bad experiences.  This new system might get rid of Dodge's black eye.

Those are nice, too bad they went away from quad-cab design

I'm liking the Highway tractor that Dodge is doing in conjunction with Freightliner, the C1000.

Hey Gene, I see a nice new truck to pull the Daytona with.

That C1000 is a nice looking ride.

IIRC Car and Driver picked the '10 Dodge as the best of the big three.

Just heard from a friend 2008's, Cummings, crew cab, are going for $31k in a dealership in the suburbs of Chicago.  He said the sticker is $47k... ::)

Now since the new style is out, man I like it! :2thumbs:  Hopefully Mother Mopar will get out of the financial mess...

I was thinking the same thing, hoping Dodge will survive long enough to establish the new truck line. Where I work, a site construction company, the pick ups, & rack bodies they've been buying for years have been Chevy. Over the last 18 months the pick ups have had an assortment of major problems like transmissions & they were talking about a switch to a different brand. They found a super clean, 2002 Dodge rack body at an auction last year, & have had no problems with it as far as I know. If the boss gets annoyed with GM enough, he may start buying some of the HD Dodges.

And Gene, those new Dodges are really nice, but your Mega Cab is too new & also too nice to get rid of, I'd keep it.

When I was looking for a truck, Dodge didn't have the Mega Cab yet, and I needed more room than the crew cab.  With this I bought a Chevy.  I like the interior layout, the engine is good, the Allison is impressive, but boy, it's been in the shop for a bunch of stupid crap.  The latest thing is one my third set of trans lines :scared: ! My brakes were failing due to corrosion-it's only three years old!  I just don't know.  I really really like the new Dodge, and will get it next.
