Is it possible to have a fender tag made if you don't have one to reference?? All I have is my VIN #, the (correct) fender tag never came with my car and I'd like one.

Thanks, in advance.

You can have them made off of the buildsheet or you can have one made that isn't really correct, for instance mine simply says "TEST CAR" Which Chrysler had on some of the test cars way back when.
68 Charger R/t white with black v/t and red tailstripe. 440 4 speed ,black interior
68 383 auto with a/c and power windows. Now 440 4 speed jj1 gold black interior .
My Charger is a hybrid car, it burns gas and rubber............

I don't have the build sheet either

The only thing I have is my VIN# , a build sheet from another car and a fender tag from another car..  I sent an email out to the guy at Datatags (backeast).

Oh really? :scratchchin:  Did I check them against my DB for a match?

the VIN will only tell you the engine, everything else you can just have added to the tag if you have all the codes, although unless you KNOW what is original to the car and what is not (including color and interior after 40 years) it will never be "CORRECT"

No, I don't believe you did. The only thing I've done with the #'s, so far, is run them to make sure they weren't connected to a stolen vehicle, and they came back clean.

Do you want the #'s?

That's what I was afraid of... So I'm sunk in my quest.

Maybe someone out there has your sheet.

mauve66

like i said , it wouldn't be "correct" but to me thats not important unless its a rare car to begin with, you can make the tag reflect what YOU are building the car to be, the only problem there is 20 years down the road when someone else owns it and posts on this thread that their car is the only one built in 19?? with 2005 power window switches and has pics to  prove it :popcrn: :popcrn:

Oh no.. Mine's by no means a rare car.. I just wanted a tag under the hood..

Ghoste

Get a tag that says "ruined by BK fixed by me".

just look at a few cars like yours and get idea of equipment and how tag looks then get one made. it is no big deal what so ever and you will have your tag . i have a couple tags i took off 69 chargers i junked both big block cars if you need any codes. you have a modified car that will never be original again so have a tag made as close as possible.small block big block whatever .

Thanks, Jerry! As you can tell "originality" isn't something that'll ever be restored to this car.. If it was an original Hemi Charger I'd be crying (or would I be laughing all the way to the bank?), but it's not..  I might be taking you up on the offer for some codes, because the one thing I DO know is that it was a Blue 383 automatic A/C car.

The guy at BackEast doesn't appear to have too much of a sense of humor so I'm not sure if he'll do it. Is there anyone else out there??

Ghoste

Somebody makes them up because a lot of the FAST class cars have custom made tags with things like "100% WHOOP ASS" on them and so forth.

Jeff PM me the #'s or better yet email me some pics if you have them

jerry

yes there is a guy in Arizona . marti fender tags or somthing like that. makes nice tags.

Ghoste

I believe he only does Ford tags though?

jb666

The more I think about it, the more I'd LOVE to put something in the tag like "Destroyed By BK Auto, Restored by _____ " and put the shop name(S).

jerry

i have seen several mopar tags this guy did. he does nice work.

maxwellwedge

He did one for a friend's '68 440 Dart years ago - It looked good. We did have to tell him how to do it though.

If you can locate the build sheet, you can get a "good" fender tag from Galen Govier - www.gvgovier.com .
My name is Mike and I'm a Moparholic!

maxwellwedge

Galen sends them out, but he does supply the company the proper codes. He will probably have it done by the 37th of Julumber.
