Was sorting through piles of newsletters .And saw this intersting picture of a superbird being mocked up at creative industries. As entitled and pictures by Dick Padovini..And you will notice its looks like a 69 RR by the door decal and the quarter panel lines. Not seeing the 70ish air scoop .As to the wheel covers ?..And see a to be used in the superbird turn signal lens on the floor bellow the clay nose on the checkered floor .I see also a pay phone on the wall behind the wing .Other car drawings on the wall and rolled up paper plans etc on the work bench .Just a step back in time to the place that made the wingcars a reality

Can't you see? 3/8/09. DUH!!!    :icon_smile_big: :nana:   Those are cool. That's cool to see it being mocked up on a 69.

WingCharger

Is it the nose on a '69 RR fender or early production '70 Coronet fenders? :shruggy:

C_stripes

They look to be 70 net fenders. There isn't the body line on them like the 69 runner has.

I think the fenders are part of the clay portion, I wouldn't expect to see a body line added in this case.

I would agree, but look at the shine difference. They look to be steel. Same with the hood about 1/3 way up.

The two center supports could just be to hold the wing in place, like the two supports under the nosecone.

Cool picture nonetheless! Thanks for sharing.

I finally have the proof that I need. It's official. They did put a wing on a 69 Road Runner.  :icon_smile_big:
Now I feel better about putting a Superbird wing on my 69 runner.
Don't worry, I saved the real Superbird wing for the clone.

hmm interesting. I was going to say the 2 center supports looked like 2x4's

Here is the story on the photos.  From this picture, it looks like they were testing out both wing uprights... Daytona on the passenger side and Superbird on the driver side.  I kinda like the look of a '69 Superbird.

hmm weird wonder why they wouldn't just send a plain jane satellite to them but I guess back in those days maybe the roadrunner was worth less on the dealer lot.

Photo's that are posted by Dave are ones that were taken or at least printed on July 7th 1969. There is a series of 24 photo's from that date if I remember correctly. The pictures were printed by Creative Industries on July 7th 1969 anyways.

I like this one of the series - I only have 5 - didn't know there were 24

It looks like the took a Daytona steel nose, and filled in the center grille, then built up the various sections with clay to match the Coronet fenders and hood.

Any guesses to what the black hood is from up against the wall to the right of the last nose cone.??????'Kinda thought 69 Catalina??? And off to the right you can see headlight doors assemblys witn no lamps in them .If there are 6 of 24 mock up shots.where are the rest

This hood has the trim at back pair of louvres body center line and similar design shape a large A with and turned on the ends on front corners. If it is a 69 Catalina hood  why would it be there.

I like how it's jammed up against the payphone at the back.

Look at all those fluorescent fixtures on the ceiling.
I wonder.....Are they GE or Westinghouse lamps?

Car appears to have had a vinyl roof.

Ghoste

Even the A pillar moulding looks clay at this point, it also looks to only be on one side too (at least in some of the pics).
