Vinyl top grain

All the standard vinyl tops in '68 to '70 that I know are original have a 3/8" or so grain size.  The aftermarket ones usually have an 1/8" grain size.  Were there smaller grained tops from the factory?  This is on a '69 Charger, and the guy says it's original.  He's not the original owner, though.  The top isn't torn or weathered, but it doesn't look new.
