Well we gave it lots of thought about moving. First we looked at Montana, but felt it was too far west, so we went with New Hampshire.  Something about the live free or die and the low taxes and great gun rights that pulled me in.  Plus its a great looking state.

Where in New Hampshire are you looking to move?

BIRD67

Move to Keene, It's best :yesnod: You will love it here in NH, it is pretty quiet around here, no funky sh!t going on around here, Cheshire County, where I am in, is very nice, tons of car shows and Mopar nuts, hell, my buddy branden has 3 vintage MoPars!
I will not make any deals with you. I've resigned. I will not be pushed, filed, stamped, indexed, briefed, debriefed or numbered. My life is my own. I resign. -Number 6, The Prisoner

New Hampshire is a GORGEOUS state. I spent the first 16 years of my life vacationing there and I still have a lot of family up there.. If I had a choice it's where I'd be

Great choice.

I'm in Barrington, NH. Have lived in NH for the last 46 years. I consider this area the best part of the state. 50 minutes to the beach, 1 hour to Boston, MA (if the city is your thing). 1 hour to the White Mountains.
Only bad thing about NH is our main source of revenue for the state is property taxes. So if you own a house you will take it up the a**.

There's two local papers you can read online to get a feel for the area.

Well I am sure the taxes on my house in VA will be way more than any thing New

Hampshire can charge me.

We looked at Keene online.  My wifes family lives in Boston and the south shore of Mass.  I was wanting to move 30 miles outside and to the north of Concord.  I love hunting and will be looking for land as well.

We are very excited.  We just put our house here in Virginia on the market and because we bought it at the low end of the market we got it priced to sell.

I will keep you guys in the loop.  I plan on bringing my 73 on a flat bed the entire way up......   Very excited.

   I'm sure there's a few members, NH Mopar Fan or TW426Jay(something like that) will chime in on that. Some towns are getting outrageous. I have 10 acres on a private road, which means no town services, 2500 SF house, two detached garages, 20x24 and 30x88. I pay 7k a year and their talking about a big tax hike  ::)

10K on my primary home, plus we get hit with income tax, and 1100 a year in car taxes, 800 a year on my boat, road Tolls, sales taxes, all kinds of food taxes on prep'd meals.  They tax you here on top of speeding ticket and court costs.

VA was a low tax state for years but northern va has started asking for all kinds of road projects and public projects over the years.  its nuts down here.

Life isn't Father Knows Best anymore, it's a kick in the face on a saturday night with a steel toed grip kodiak work boot and a trip to the hospital all bloodied and bashed.....for reconstructive surgery. But, what doesn't kill us, makes us stronger, right?

Opening day at the track. Looking to break into the 11's with my other car. End of the season for me I ran a 12.06, with the tune out of wack (PCM pulling ten degrees at launch for "Burst Knock")...should be high 11's NA early this season, and break into the 10's on spray with the EFI Live mods I have done :D

NH is a great state... I live in CT but I spend as much time as I can up in the White Mountains area... it's my favorite place to kick back and have a cold one... Started going up there with my folks when I was just a lad back in the early 60's... Still get up there today whenever I can. The Woodstock Inn is a great little watering hole that I frequent from time to time... Yes, I like the Oatmeal Stout that they make there, but my wife is fond of the Seasonal Brews that they produce.
I would move up there in a heart beat if I had the opportunity...

OK Hutch, you win  That's unbelieveable. There was a chart showing the states as far as taxes. NH was the second lowest. Our neighbors Maine and Mass were near the top of the list.

Musicman, next time your heading to the white mountains give me a shout. The Kangamangus area is my favorite cruising spot. Here's a few pics cruising with some mopar buds.

Hey.. I've seen you guys up there before... As a matter of fact, the last time we were up there the wife told me that we should have brought the Charger so we could join in the cruise. We were sitting at the scenic overlook on the top of the hill on the west side of the pass near Lincoln when you guys went buy. It's just beautiful driving between the mountains up there.
Unfortunately, my job has me sitting in South Carolina at the moment, but I will be taking some time off to hit the mountains this summer.

Welcome.
Great choice. We love this state.

As Brian said, property taxes are on the high side, we pay just over 5K for a couple acres with a 3 car garage, but the rest is much cheaper.

I thought Taxachusetts & Connectitax (as their know in NH) were the 2 highest in our area  :o

timmy

i lived in bedford NH very pretty up that way the people are very nice good luck to you and your family

Lots of different charts out there that show taxes lots of different ways.  I see Maine in the top 14 in just about every chart though.

Maine taxes are high due to income ratios and for that reason I believe Maine would be at the top of the list. Nobody has any money, and everything is closing up/down.
My property taxes are about $2200 a year for just under 2 acres in Readfield Maine, which is relatively high considering my neighboring towns taxes, but it has been consistent the entire 12+ years I've been here.

If you have a decent job that has no chance of going under and have a supplemental income, like a military retirement, you can live just fine in Maine. Otherwise, stay away, stay far away.
By the way those jobs would be, Federal and State employment IMO, something in the Health field, or you are still Active Duty.  Everything else is suspect and will eventually succumb to closure.

State is very smart though, tax the crap out of smokes because one thing is for sure, Mainers like to smoke and drink up this way.
I always get a chuckle when I spy a lady in Walmart with 3 screaming filthy kids and 2 shopping carts full of stuff(one of them chalked by one of the kids underneath it "better get up bobby or mommy ain't gonna take you to the Mac Donalds afterwards...I ain't got the damn money anyways to be spending on that crap")
All the while.....
First shopping cart contains all the cheese, milk, eggs, bread and whatever else is paid for by the state and the second cart holds all the beer, wine, etc....... and did I mention, they are in the cigarette line, to boot.  People don't even try to help themselves around here and it's disgusting.
Life isn't Father Knows Best anymore, it's a kick in the face on a saturday night with a steel toed grip kodiak work boot and a trip to the hospital all bloodied and bashed.....for reconstructive surgery. But, what doesn't kill us, makes us stronger, right?

Damn Mike!

You must have a mansion for that extra $500 a year! 4 acres in West Bath, Maine taxes $1700 a year...

BTW we are still hiring Drilling offshore in the Gulf of Mexico :yesnod:

I love New England, although the snow is fun and entertaining the first few times of the year. Its starting to get old!

We should try and get a MOPAR cruise in to Mt Washington Fall 09, we did one with a Chevy Avanache Club and it was pretty cool, they closed the mountain road a bit early and we (the Avalanche Club) drove up the mountain for fall foliage at sunset.
