Hi, I have a small problem. I found a 4615 S AVS for my 440 and would love to use it but will not seem to work with an Edelbrock Performer RPM because of the carb's stove choke setup. RPMs do not seem to accommodate for this. Any suggestions? I would love to have a little more scoot that this manifold would provide but really want to keep the AVS. Help! Oh and BTW, it's an original 383/4spd w/ac car.

There isn't much you can do since the AVS main body doesn't have provisions for an onboard choke mechanism. You could try rigging up a manual cable for the choke or just wire the choke wide open and feather the throttle when it's cold.
Pardon me but my karma just ran over your dogma.

Dang. Are there any manifolds as good as the RPM that would match the carb?

Can you get the Eddycarter AVS in a manual choke?

That is a 383 Carb.

In 68?

69 383 Manual----according to the Guru's book....my parts book is at the shop so I can't rely only on Groovy's book.

Ghoste

The guru is correct for 69 but I was assuming dpm68 owns a 68.  :shruggy:

What is the cfm rating on that carb ? If it's an original 383 part it might be inadequate on a warmed up 440, especially with a dual plane intake manifold.  :scratchchin:

Could that assumption be from his handle?

That's what I thought Ron - That's why I mentioned it. Plus the fact that I'm home with the flu and bored!

Thanks for all the info guys. Yes it is indeed a carb for a '69-'70 383/4speed combo. I am putting it in my '66 Satellite (the one in my avatar). I have a '69 440 350HP that will go in it and this carb should be plenty, as it's a 750. I am not one to overcarb if I can help it. I have looked into Performer RPMs, have read the data, and have heard nothing but good things about them. I also know that this particular AVS is a very competent carb. I will probably throw an old-fashioned manual choke on it with the RPM sucking away beneath. Does this sound too screwy? Oh and BTW, it's an original 383/4spd w/ac car.

Not too many 4-speed A/C cars built.

Okay - I give up looking - does anyone know how many of my cars were made?
