I had to vote "kind of" since my car was born with F8 green but the previous owner had painted it R4 red which is still a factory optional color.  Since the car needed no body work and the paint was in excellent shape I decided to save some money and keep it that color.

Brian your car was an orig F8 car? What about the top and interior?White and white or .....? Would have thought at those AACA shows the car must be "as born with" colors,engine,etc...to even be considered for an award.

Forgot to add mine,  yes B5,and yes X9.

Rallye

Rallye was originally Super Blue... when she comes back from the paint shop, I hope she's still Super Blue.  Now I'm worried...  :errr:

I like it but it's not my favorite . My car is such a frankinstein it will never be original again anyway .  It would be F6 green with white wing and interior if I had unlimited funds . For now it will stay red get a white wing and black interior .

No, AACA is not "as born with".  AACA rules say that as long as the items on the car were in production as factory options, you could have had it.  The AACA judges have so many cars to judge, they can not go by every single number to go over a car.

Now, as for my car.... according to the fender tag, was originally a F8 green paint, green top, and tan interior.  However, the white top and black and white interior were optional in 1969 which makes it acceptable by AACA standards.  Is my engine and trans numbers matching, no.  They are long gone.  Are they correct for the car period wise, yes, especially since my charger was originally a 383 4 bbl 4 spd.

Death1970Proof

My 70 se 500 is originally F8 with a black vinyl top. I like the color but it will not go back to F8 for a couple of reasons. When I bought a 2nd gen charger I knew I always wanted a black one. Im going with flat black because of all the extensive body repairs that have been done and with all the body work ahead of me I dont wanna make even more work than I have to do. Flat black looks nice on a charger and also flat hides alot of imperfections as well.

"Remember when I said this car was death proof? Well that wasnt' a lie-this car is 100%death proof- only to get the benefit of it honey you really need to be sitting in my seat"...

I put NO

Reason is, there is no "im not sure" option. But I will be painting it different to what it Originally is. Going to improve on what the factory did not do.

How many Chargers do you show against on any given day at a show?

Or other cars if the classes are not broken down to just Charger?
68 Charger R/t white with black v/t and red tailstripe. 440 4 speed ,black interior
68 383 auto with a/c and power windows. Now 440 4 speed jj1 gold black interior .
My Charger is a hybrid car, it burns gas and rubber............

resq302

The class I am in is Factory mopar high performance which I think the years are from 1966-1971unless they have broken it down again.  I have been up against 2 other chargers at the most, a 69 1/2 super bee, a couple 300 cars.  It varies show to show.

AACA goes all the ay back to model T Fords and race cars and such.  Hech, they even do motorcycles and mopeds.  Anything with a motor.  If you ever have a chance to get to Hershey, PA for the fall regional show (columbus day weekend) I highly recommend it.  You will see things that you never thought possible was still around.  A coca-cola delivery truck, a restored cement mixer truck, etc.

Mine was originally F7, with a matching top. When I found it, it had just been painted FJ6. I'm thinking of putting a black vinyl top on it eventually.

I wouldn't call it any run of the mill car show.  The judges do know the cars that they are looking at.  They just dont have time to decode the fender tag looking for what all came on the car and what is actually on the car.  If your car was painted some color that had a lot of metallic flake or say a high impact color that was not out in 1969, they would know and points would be deducted.  Also, if they have any questions pertaining to correctness or authenticity, the burden of proof is on the owner of the car.  Hence, why I keep certain things with me at cars shows.  In 1969, your car could have possibly came with a white top, white interior, and R4 red paint which is why my car is acceptable.  However, if I were to do SME judging, I would probably come up on the negative side since it is not a numbers matching car.
