I rest my hand on the shifter. :drive: Even when the car is an automatic(on the floor) like I may have to down shift at any moment!

Wondering why everyone is going slower than the speed limit.

Slamming on my brakes when someone is riding my ass.

My worst habbit: When someone cuts me off I have to cut them off in return  ::)

Yes I have had lots of accidents but NEVER had a claim. My last accident was a hit and run. The guy hit me then took off. I chased him down and totaled both out the rest of the way when I caught him. He got 7 tickets and I got one for chasing him :D

Making lane changes on a four lane, without signalling. :rotz:
I drive over 1000 miles a week, most of it at over 70mph.
I drive my car as if I'm driving a sport bike, weaving around traffic.
Of course, I see the other drivers as brainless drones. And they probably see me as a reckless maniac.
I've been driving for 30 years, and have never caused an accident. Or had a claim.

I've been known to tailgate (just a little bit). But when I started driving newer cars, I got extremely anal about stone chips and even more aware of my bad habits :eek2: .....When I see a new stone chip I go nuts.  :pullinghair:

My biggest problem is that I crawl up peoples asses at the stop light.  I know its bad...and I'm currently in therapy for it.  :P

By the way Daria, thanks for starting this thread.....and please don't think I discriminate. Even if your NOT cute,  I'll still crawl up your ass at the stoplight.  :icon_smile_big: :icon_smile_big: :icon_smile_big:

My only habits are leaving a lot of distance for braking since I drive the Charger and my brothers Pathfinder 50/50 and accelerating front stop lights up to the speed limit fast. I also hate how late most automatic transmissions downshift so I give them more gas to make them. And I find myself taking the Pathfinder out of 4wd to 2wd in the snow since its more fun. And I get terrified on country roads unless I am driving since the crash.

ummmm    bad habit while driving...       I would say speeding...   dont do it as recklessly as i used to...   I got pulled over 19 times in high school...    never got a ticket...    64mph in a 25 zone once...     that could have been bad...

another bad habit it - i have a bit of road rage when it comes to old people / girls doing make up / people talking on phones / or people just driving slow...

My buddy takes the cake though....     someone cut him off once and he went through the roof...    sped up and cut the guy off...     the guy proceeds to honk his horn, give the bird, and give say something about my friend's mom (who is deceased) at the stop light behind us...    so my friend (in his infinite wisdom) gets out of the car - calmly walks up to the guys hood...    walks up ONTO the hood and kicks in the guy's windshield multiple times - calmly walks back - gets in the car and drives away  like nothing happened...    and yes I saw this whole thing...       pretty remarkable to say the least.

With my wife in the car:
1. Not replying with a smart-ass remark (this is a hard-learned habit as I desire a harmonious marriage) when my wife asks me
          a. why I'm following so closely
          b. do I know where I'm going
          c. did I know that we are low on fuel
          d. not to honk at other drivers when they adversely impact me as they may have a gun and shoot us
          e. not to speed up to see what the nationality and gender are (for my own informal survey) of the driver that almost crashed into us
          d. ...and I could go on....

With my daughter in the car:
2. Explaining to my daughter why the other driver (read: idiot) did what he did, and what he should have done to be safe.

And all alone in my '68 Charger:
3. Hanging my arm out the window and smiling way too much  :drive:

My dad taps on the roof of the Challenger while riding shotgun.  Drives me bonkers.

I dont really have any bad habits.  I just enjoy driving.  More than most things.

The whole kicking in the windshield thing, my cousin did the same exact thing.  To a friends windshield who he was pissed at.  Right in front of the cop shop.  I dont think he got a ticket, just had to pay for it.

I tap on the roof of the car when Im sitting at an intersection. I also start grumbling and swearing if I see people driving too slow/too fast/badly. Also I always drive with only my right hand on the wheel. The left hand just gets in the way, so it either stays in my lap, on the shifter or fondling the handbrake release button (RHD car)

when I'm a passenger, I like tap on the door panel very lightly and in direct relation to the speed we are going.  the faster we go, the faster we tap. My buddies are all motor heads like me so they hear the noise and go crazy trying to figure it out.  they think it's ujoints, a flat, whatever.

nah man - I believe their rationale is "young kid in a hot rod...    i was doing the same thing when i was his age...   i'll cut him some slack"...

My buddy...    well....      long story behind that one.

BTW - The most priceless expression is when you're pulled over by the LAPD and they casually ask "Do you have any guns or firearms in the car?" and you say "ummm   yes officer, i do."  - instant double take but the officers   ---  that was a long night to say the least...    many many questions like "Why do you need this many guns to go shooting?" "are you sure this AR-15 is legal?" "is this a 30 round magazine?" "Is that a surefire on your HK USP ?" and my favorite "DAMN!  This thing is heavy!" (discussing a 50 cal Desert Eagle)
